Slayer actually won the "Best Metal Performance" Grammy. I think they've been nominated before but this is their first win.

Oddly enough, the song that got nominated ("Final Six" or whatever it's called) was just a bonus track on the "deluxe edition" of "Christ Illusion" that came out last year.

they also won last year for Eyes Of The Insane, this makes their second win with the Final Six which is the "new" track on the Christ Illusion reissue. they were also previously nominated for Disciple.

A cynical person may wonder why a bonus track from a re-issued album would be nominated for a Grammy, unless the record company needed to boost some sales. Not me, of course, but someone who maybe doesn't share the same rose-tinted glasses that I wear. Would a record company have any influence on the Grammy committee and use some under-handed back-door shenanigans just to push a few more cd's?

I wouldn't ask, because I believe everyone is on the level and totally truthful, especially when it comes to big business.
