| Tend to agree with FF on The Grudge and I agree with the "rip-off" of those movies being not good.
If I recall their is a quote on the front of the Grudge (The US version) saying it is the scariest movie ever. I fell for it and then came to this next conclusion...
Any, and I mean any "horror" movie that is rated PG-13 will not be scary and will in turn be bad! Contridicting myself a bit but I did enjoy what Dark Castle did with their remakes. IE: Ghost Ship, Thirteen Ghosts, Gothika, House Of Wax.

AMEN! As a horror afficionado, that's my rule of thumb too. You just have to cut too much stuff out to get the PG13 rating. As you said, there are some exceptions. Killer Klowns From Outer Space comes to mind but I bet if that movie was released today it would get an "R". _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

If it has a R rating it is because of blood and gore and I don't find that scary at all, gross yes, but not scary. For me scary is stuff that makes you jump out of your seat or sends chills down your spine and the Grudge movies did that to me. However, I wouldn't consider myself a horror afficionado, I guess I take after my dad in that I don't consider scary to be a correct description of blood and gore. My best friend Eric (R.I.P.) was a horror afficionado but also didn't consider it scary, he just liked blood and gore (the bloodier the better) and even thought a lot of it was funny. I could never understand that except in the case of the Evil Dead movies, those were hilarious.

| I agree that blood and gore doesn't necessarily equate to scary. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| I also find some blood and gore hilarious. Dead Alive is like The Three Stooges with gore. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

Erik and I tried to watch that through netflix but the DVD they sent us was scratched to hell. A few months later I caught some of it on a cable channel and I know what you mean, that one was pretty damn funny as well.

I liked "Ghost Ship" quite a bit as well. Great set design/atmosphere, and a hella lot gorier than I'd seen in a while! Was that a remake? I was under the impression that "Ghost Ship" was Dark Castle's first original production. If it was a remake, then I'm unfamiliar with the original. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| They are suppose to be re-making Day of the Dead... I wonder if there are any directors that can make something new for once. A good new movie... | |

| And the Reverend promptly gets skewered on a spiked statue!
The only movie I know of that has more "hilarious gore" is Planet Terror.
That thing is just sooooo over the top gory that it makes Dead Alive look like Sesame Steet. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.
