| From ult's site: Desperado-Bloodied But Unbowed (Destroyer) 1996 1. "Hang 'em High" (4:51) 2. "Gone Bad" (3:44) 3. "The Maverick" (5:06) 4. "The Heart is a Lonely Hunter" (7:11) 5. "Calling for You" (4:54) 6. "See You At Sunrise" (5:53) 7. "There's No Angels Here" (4:54) 8. "Made for Trouble" (3:45) 9. "Ride Thru the Storm" (4:30) 10. "Son of a Gun" (5:34) 11. Emaheeval" (4:25) 12. "Easy Action" (3:52) 13. "Heart of Saturday Night" (3:53)
The legendary Deperado cd. After the demise of Twisted Sister, Dee Snider went on to start the "Desperado" project in 1989. Snider, teaming up with ex-Gillan guitarist Bernie Torme, ex-Iron Maiden drummer Clive Burr and bassist Marc Russell to create an album for Elektra Records. Ready for release in '89, Elektra decided to shelve the album about two weeks before the initial unveiling. This is a direct quote from Bernie Tormé's site: "Well, it took years out of all our lives, though for me 99.9% was pure pleasure. It was a great album, great singer, great band, but unfortunately for us, a smurf poo record company. Hey, its just my opinion." I'd have to agree. This is a great commercial metal album, sounding much like a follow-up to "Love is for Suckers". After listening only twice I can't even fathom what the record company was thinking. Perhaps the "big hit" wasn't there. I don't know, I'm just glad it finally was released. Never heard of the record company that finally did release this disc. There is no copyright information, so I can only assume that this was finally released by one of the band members, most likely Dee Snider. "Emaheevul," "Gone Bad," "Calling For You," and "Ride Through The Storm" have all reappeared on other Dee Snider projects. "Heart of Saturday Night" is a Tom Waite cover. This disc sells for around $25-$30 on eBay. This album is so good, its sick. I mean how can you miss with a lineup of Dee Snider, Bernie Torme, Clive Burr and Marc Russell (not sure who he is)? This album is just solid throughout. I highly recommend it for fans of all types of metal. If you don't like Dee's vocals in TS, they sound a little different on this one, but it's unmistakeably Dee. If you are lucky enough to catch this one, PICK IT UP! |

| It's good stuff... the reason it's so overlooked is probably cuz for the longest time nobody could find it due to its limited release. A lot of people probably don't even know it exists!! I always wanted to hear it back in the day but didn't get hold of it till I found a download on the Net years ago. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| It is a great album, but it was shelved when it was first recorded. By the time Dee released it privately, he was no longer that known and alternative was the flavor of the day.
It's easy to find now as it's been re-released, albeit with a different cover. The cover pictured above was the independent release that Dee put out.

| I only have a download of it as well. It's extremely scarce.
Shawn, it's basically just straight ahead metal.
Here's a sample. There's No Angels Here |

| The "Ace" reissue only has 11 tracks, though. The original has 13. So I guess I'm hangin' onto the CD-R I made from my download. By the way, "Gone Bad," "Emaheevul" and "Calling For You" were all re-recorded by Dee's next band, Widowmaker, and appeared on the BLOOD & BULLETS debut. There's another overlooked album for ya. Widowmaker was killer! _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| I'd say it's a Heavy Rock basis, with numerous Traditional Metal inspirations - Great stuff! | |

| http://www.cduniverse.com/search/xx/music/pid/7119340/a/Ace.htm Yes, that's the reissue. Some of the tracks were used for Widowmaker and Dee Snider's solo album, so that may be why they weren't included here. 1. Hang 'Em High 2. Gone Bad 3. Run Wild Run Free (The Maverick) 4. Heart Is A Lonely Hunter 5. Calling For You 6. See You At Sunrise 7. No Angels Here 8. Made For Trouble 9. Ride Thru The Storm 10. Son Of A Gun 11. Similar style to Widowmaker or Dee's solo album. Melodic heavy metal/hard rock. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

I like the original title better as well. "Bloodied but Unbowed" sounds better than "Ace" IMO. Besides there is only one "Ace" IMO. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

ult Not as goofy as the U.S. cover, but I still like the original one better than either of 'em! _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| Why was it overlooked? Because it is nearly impossible to find. Glad I snagged one all those years ago. Very good stuff...

| By the way...have not seen the reissue anywhere. Does it have ANYTHING new on it at all? Even the tracks from Never Let The Bastards Wear You Down that were supposed to be on the original? Anything?

| I bought the CD directly from Dee, when he was touring his SMF stuff. I think it's a great album. And the thread here questioning Dee going country would do themselves a favor checking ut "Bloodied But Unbowed". _________________ | |
