Anyone like these guys? The music is punk inspired metal, obviously influenced by Motorhead, excpet maybe a bit 'cleaner' sounding. They only had one album in 1985... shame too, since it's actually really, really good. They were a part of the SST label along with Black Flag, Husker Du, Saccharine Trust, Meat Puppets and Saint Vitus.

I can remember seeing their albums in stores back in the day, but I never checked'em out. I'm a huge fan of the Jersey Overkill tho.

If you can, do whatever it takes to find the album. I think you'd be pleasantly surprised, I know I was. It's actually a hidden classic, in my opinion.

Yep! Love 'em! I have downloads of Hell's Getting Hotter, Triumph of the Will and the single track - "Over the Edge" - that they contributed to the SST comp. The Blasting Concept Volume II 🤘

I just sold a new sealed copy on ebay 2 days ago. I still have an extra, if anyone is interested in a trade.

I heard them originally on the Metal Massacre 2 compilation, before SST signed them, when they were still just Overkill. I know they added the LA to the name to take away confusion between the two bands, but I always thought the LA on the end was overkill in itself haha.

I think I brought this up the last time Overkill LA was mentioned around here, but in the liner notes of the "other" Overkill's FEEL THE FIRE, there's a "F**k off" dedication to "bands trying to steal our name," which I assume was aimed at these guys, haha.

Yep, I saw that, can't blame them though. It's funny though, because Overkill has always been one of my favorites, and I saw "No Holds Barred" from Overkill LA on that Metal Massacre comp when they were stilll called Overkill, I was excited, thinking it was an Overkill song I hadn't heard yet. I was pretty pissed when I actually listened to it initally.

The only problem is, there was an OVERKILL from the UK who released a single and a demo in 1981, and the OVERKILL from L.A. released their first 7 inch EP in 1982. Both of these bands had releases before OVERKILL N.Y. released their first demo in 1983. If anyone should have been accused of a rip off or been made to change their name, it's the N.Y. band.
