| Is there any Beatles fans here? Before beeing a Metal maniac my favourite band was The Beatles. Ringo, George,Paul and John...What a smurfing band! Without them there will probably be no Black Sabbath, KISS and no Metal. Paul McCartney is maybe the first to have done a Metal song with ''Helter Skelter''. |

| Nope. Although I'm not denying their impact on music, I can't stomach their stuff. It's just stuff I could never get into | |

Having an effect or influence and being the catalyst is two very different things. |

I'm going to need examples and a 150 word essay to believe this statement. |

| Just listen to the song, and think of how it would have sounded like back in 68, round when Black Sabbath first formed. That song sounds metal to my ears, and i feel it serves as a precursor of what was to come. |

| That's a stretch as heavier rock music was a-plenty in '68 with Blue Cheer, Iron Butterfly, Cream, Yardbirds, etc were around. I really think heavy metal was more of a response to the Beatles than anything. The artists influenced by The Beatles were trying to do something totally different, like Alice Cooper and Led Zeppelin. Perhaps I'm wrong. But I suppose I can see a slight influence on metal from The Beatles, but profound is kind of stretching it. |

| i don't know if I'd say that the Beatles had a profound influence on metal per se, but they were the innovators of so many things in rock music in general that we would never have gotten where we are now if they had not existed.
Ditto for Elvis. | |

| I dont really care whether they had any impact on anyone at all. I love the Beatles, although Im not a big John Lennon fan. I am grateful for him being the James Hetfield of their early albums, he was the driving force at the beginning, but I cant stand his work from about 1968 to 1980. Yoko ruined him. After they met, he got really weird. I am a big PM&Wings fan. My favorite Beatles era was from about their third album(Hard Days' Night) to about the Sgt. Pep/Magical Myst/Yellow Sub 1967 era. wasnt a huge fan of The White Album but it had some great stuff on it, just too much stuff on it that I dont think was up to par for the standard they set for themselves. I also love Abbey Road, a perfect send off(it actually was their final album). If I had to pick a fave it would be a tie between Rubber Soul and Sgt. Pepper, then Help and Revolver, then Abbey Road, then Magical Mystery/Yellow Sub, then the early stuff. | |

| Whether or not they influenced metal is irrelevent, IMO. The Beatles changed the face of rock music in general and cannot be denied the impact they made. I don't have any of their albums but I do love the hits and have some on my computer. I like the music and harmony they posses and think that they were great musicians and deserve all the hype they got. Rolling Stones on the other hand does not interest me for the most part. They have some good/great songs but I prefer the Beatles. However, The Moody Blues beats them both IMO. | |

| If you listen/watch some interviews with metal legends like Ozzy, or Gene Simmons, the turning point in their lives, what made them want to play music was when they saw The Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show back in 1964. In that respect The Beatles influenced those who more directly influenced metal. It's a tall family tree with a lot of branches.
I love The Beatles, right now I'm listening to Let It Be and LOVE(which is fantastic). | |

| Big Beatles fan here. Listening to my dad's old vinyls and just hearing them on the radio & such while I was growing up had a big impact on me and my love of music. | |
