Sorry. I'll try and get us back on track: I met Gary Cherone and Pat Badger at the Extreme gig I saw on the PORNO tour, very nice guys. I still have Gary's autograph on a magazine ad for the album. Nuno was an anti-social dick though. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

Actually, it was in Brooklyn, New York, at L'amour, so there was a high concentration of big-haired Italian-American girls that went "ey, yo, how ya doin'" a lot. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| I like Extreme pretty well, bought all their cds this past summer for a combined total cost of 3.25 at misc. flea markets. When I finally found the s/t towards the end of summer, the guy I bought it from insisted that Gary Cherone killed himself. I was like nah, he did VHIII and is still kicking around. the guy said that he thought I meant Sammy Haggar. SIGH |

| Okay enough of the Jersey gurlzz. Extreme are a brilliant band the first 2 albums are okay but III Sides To Every Story is a stone cold classic easily up there with any hard rock/metal release in the early 90's. While mellower than previous albums it has a more epic Beatles and Queen feel to it and even King's X (i'm sure the guys were lending an ear to the mighty X at the time). If you only remember Extreme as a hair band that got lucky with a chart topping ballad, think again and trace this album down. | |

| Ah, another who appreciates the brilliance of III Sides To Every Story! They actually cover a Beatles tune on a single from that album. |

| Which beatles song is it? Check out this article on Nuno Bettencourt and Extreme in Rolling Stone and then read the overwhelming support Extreme recieves in the comments.
http://www.rollingstone.com/rockdaily/index.php/2006/06/12/perry-farrell-doesnt-care-what-you-think-of-nuno-bettencourt/
This is how out of touch Rolling Stone is. Left wing writers who don't have a clue about music, only David Fricke's record reviews are to be trusted. On a side topic Nuno's wife Suze DeMarchi's band The Baby Animals have just got back together and are gonna tour and release a new album here in Australia. If you haven't them their a great Australian hard rock band from the early 90's. http://www.myspace.com/thebabyanimals

| The first album shredded, like the jeans I wore back in the 80's - on the Jersey shore with all the awesome Metal chics with the big hair and spandex. I have to go watch "Heavy Metal Parking Lot", now and find Fat Freddy smokin' that doobster and making out with a 13 year old. Hold on...What were we talkin' about? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhRCVm-1r2k |

| I am a fan of Extreme. I have all their releases. My favorite has to be the debut album with III sides a close second. III Sides is very Beatlesque with the vocals and is very progressive. | |

This is how out of touch Rolling Stone is. Left wing writers who don't have a clue about music, only David Fricke's record reviews are to be trusted. Kids from the Blabbermouth Generation have jobs. I absolutely despise the nature of writers these days. It's all about being negative and it's sickening. This writer actually called them an "extremely uncool Nineties pop-metal band". What a joke! And you know damn well Perry Ferrell knew who Nuno was. That's just Perry's way of not having to take smurf poo from people like this writer. What a joke. And they cover "Help." It's on the Tragic Comic single. |

| Off topic but I hate Rolling Stone, they seem to only be interested in hipster we're so retro but don't call us retro BS. or Bob Dylan. I like him but seems like they cover him every month. |

| Extreme was an incredibly underrated band. I really liked thier lyrical content, for the most part it was not your average cock rock (Suzy notwithstanding). Extreme were a victim of thier own success, more than words "typecasted" them forever in most people's minds really clouding an exellent body of work. | |

"Hole Hearted" didn't help. I was checking on eBay, because this thread got me in an Extreme mood, and they actually have a lot of unreleased material on singles. Never knew that. I'll have to start hunting them down. |

| I would have swore I posted on page one of this thread, but my post isn't there. Oh well...
All I said was III Sides to Every Story is a brilliant album. Great musicianship, killer vocals, very memorable songs. Just the mention of the title has me singing songs like Warhead, Politicalcolamity and Stop the World. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

Classic power ballad, though. I have Pornograffiti. It didn't impress me enough to bother with any other albums. Play With Me, More Than Words, Hole Hearted, Rest In Peace are classics though.

Play With Me, More Than Words, Hole Hearted, Rest In Peace are classics though. You might want to try III Sides To Every Story it is not anything like Pornograffiti. You can get a used copy for less than $2, they're cheap and in huge supply (it didn't have any "hit songs" so many people who were just listening to popular stuff didn't like it). Heck on amazon you can get it used for less than a dollar.

Play With Me, More Than Words, Hole Hearted, Rest In Peace are classics though. It's just overplayed in my head. When that was big, I did listen to radio and watch MTV and such. I OD'd on that song. It's a great song, don't get me wrong; I just can't listen to it. Maybe once in a while, but I usually skip it. I tried to dig out my Extreme CDs today; looks like I only own Pornograffitti and III Sides To Every Story on CD. Must upgrade the debut. And maybe Waiting For The Punchline is worth $1.75 from lala. |

When I tried to sell my copy of that CD to a used store some years ago, the guy behind the counter actually laughed at me. True story. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"
