| i've heard of some of these bands & have albums by many. most of the ones i know of, like Impending Doom, straddle the border between brutal death metal & grind, with less focus on the punk aspects of grind & more on whirlwind speed. very little gore with most of these, as they are Christian bands.
a few of those you listed i have never heard of, like ThyLovingKindness, Forty Holy Martyrs of Sebaste, & Rehumanize. however judging by their names, i am assuming they follow the same direction. _________________

| I may be totally off here, but to me Grindcore has always been NAPALM DEATH - Scum. Death metal with a punk delivery. So fast it almost sounds like one continuous tone.
Death metal grew out of thrash metal. Bands like Sepultura and even Kreator and Destruction were sometimes called death metal in the late 80's, early 90's. Death Metal is typically characterized by the use of heavily-distorted, downtuned guitars, harsh low-pitched growled vocals, and lots of blastbeats. Most Death Metal doesn't really have any punk influence to gain the "core" tag. Carcass, Bolt Thrower, Entombed, Mortification-Scrolls of the Megilloth, Six Feet Under, Suffocation, Entombed, Crimson Thorn, Metanoia, Morbid Angel, etc. are all examples of death metal. Many credit Death and Possessed to be the forefathers of death metal. To me Possessed are thrash metal, not unlike Kreator, Sepultura, etc. Death's early sound is death metal but they progressed into more of a thrash band IMO.
Technical death metal usually refers to band similar to those listed above but with more complex song structures. These bands are usually characterized by multiple tempo and riff changes in a short period of time. Ultimatum opened up for a band a couple weeks ago that was technical death metal. The songs were short and fast and you could see that the guitarist were working the frets like crazy. However, the songs were so fast they were almost indistinguishable from one another. Cynic are one of the band's credited to this style. I'm not ultra familiar with the bands from this genre. I believe Suffocation and Necrophagist are widely known as technical death metal.
As for Goregrind and Gorecore, couldn't tell you. I assume it has more to do with the lyrical direction that the musical direction. MC666 or Lurideath may be able to tell you more. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

| Technical DM sounds like a more intersting, diverse listen. I like breakdowns, in my metal period. I think that's why I'm liking some of the metalcore bands, lots of breakdowns. ABR for sure.
Thanks Ult! | |

| Impending Doom - Nailed.Dead.Risen I got this a few days ago and have given it a few spins. VERY good, very brutal and MC666's description is very accurate. Death and Pig vocals mixed. The music is good - interesting - and this one stands apart from other DM in that regard in my opinion... | |

| Have you heard of Feast Eternal T-Roy? They are a very good Christian DM band and the members frequent the CMR. To me it's right up my alley because it's also brutal - kind of harkens back to the 90's when I liked Death Metal's style more....

| You'll probably like Metanoia and Crimson Thorn as well T-Roy. Also, if you can find it, ETHEREAL SCOUGE have one CD out called Judgement & Restoration that I love. It's like melodic death metal with worship lyrics. Very cool.
Also, Sacrificium - Escaping the Stupor Renascent - Through Darkness (melodic death metal) Acoustic Torment - Schwarzwald (German death metal)
I have all three of these for sale/trade if interested.

http://www.myspace.com/feasteternal i second this recommendation. Feast Eternal is a great pick. With Fire reminds me alot of early death-era Amorphis. especially in the vocal delivery. they are more traditional death rather than brutal/grind influenced, but still very heavy. _________________

true grindcore will always be punk influenced. ND's Scum is the absolute perfect example of what true grind sounds like. terms like goregrind or deathgrind usually just refer to death metal that utilizes the same whirlwind speed & chaotic structures that grind uses, without the punk influences. _________________

| I want to name a subgenre of music. Can I name it "Muffincore"? It can describe bands like Demon Hunter who can't decide whether they want to be metal or emo. I like it. Alot. |
