Never a genre I'd find myself liking; but I've actually found a good number of artists I really enjoy. Getting into Gridlink late into 2013 made me want to explore the genre; and I've come out pleasantly surprised. Anyone have grindcore bands they enjoy? Some valid links.

That Gridlink track was pretty interesting with some of the melodic parts in that song. Besides Napalm Death and Pig Destroyer, Nasum are another pretty good grind band.

I haven't followed grindcore since the birth of it all. I only really took notice then because it was on my doorstep and the extreme nature and love of speed appealed to me at 15. I've still got early records by Napalm Death, Heresy, Deviated Instinct and Unseen Terror, but I never listen and I didn't like the newer stuff posted.

Nasum is still one of my favorite bands. Pig Destroyer I am quite fond of as well. When Jason left Dying Fetus and started Misery Index it was a grind/death hybrid, though they are now pretty much full on death metal.

I will never forget when my brother first brought home Napalm Death's "Scum" back in high school.... he put that thing on the turntable and I was sure that we'd blown a speaker or broken the needle or something .... till I saw him head banging to it and I said, "wait...it's supposed to sound like that??"

Grindcore was something I really liked in my early days. I was being picked on a lot and heavy aggressive music helped funnel my anger. I still listen to some from time to time but not very often. Like other forms of extreme metal I have to be in the mood for it.

Hmm... Grindcore is a genre I can only listen to when in the right mood. It's not music I can just jump into. When done right, it's a absolute masterpiece of metal--pure, total, and unrelenting chaos. I like a few bands like Cattle Decapitation, Napalm Death, Pig Destroyer, Repulsion, and Caninus.

Love it. Napalm Death, Repulsion, Nasum, Wormrot, Cattle Decap (although I suppose they're more deathgrind but whatever). All great stuff that I actually find more enjoyable than traditional death metal.

Cattle Decap, most definitely deathgrind now. Their older stuff was grindcore, though. Their demo, their first EP, LP, and the split they did with Caninus was total grindcore. Their second LP was that awkward transition from grindcore to deathgrind. Not many people liked it. I'm not partial towards it, either.

The split and Human Jerky were things of beauty. I also enjoyed To Serve Man (although I'm just not picky with extreme metal and would even consider it critic-proof). I've read that Travis felt like those were failures and that the band didn't even purposefully write grindcore music. Apparently they've always wanted to just make death metal music. So early on their attempts sounded more like grind. Thus the later shift.

I'm not usually one for Grindcore, but these guys got suggested to me very recently, and I found myself digging them:

I used to love Grind. Still like few bands.
This band Assuck I seen back in 1992 and they were the craziest band live!! They have yet to be topped even to this day for me!

Pretty cool. Had been meaning to check them out considering their vocalist did guest work on the last Gridlink album.

I hope I'm not the only one who thought AxCx and their attempts at the most crude and offensive humor was actually kind of funny. Because seriously, I listen to them every time I want a rise.

I also like Phobia. I didn't see any mention of them in others' replies. I've been meaning to check out Insect Warfare that mc mentioned.

Despite not being labeled as such, I think Nails fits into the grindcore scene very well.
