No Life 'til Metal

I was looking for a place to download the No Life Til Leather demos, and came across his review for it... man its been maybe 3 years now.

Wow, I am humbled and greatful for all the nice words.

Myself, I discovered ult's site in 2000, when I first got online. I was looking for some Christian metal info, and he basically had everything I was looking for on his site. Then I decided to ask him about some newer Christian metal bands, and what do you know, he told me about Ultimatum! lol (this was before it was common knowledge that the singer for Ultimatum was the same person who ran NLTM.)

His site was so inspiering, I basiclly decided to make my own "version" of it. I totally modelled it after NLTM, but did some minor differences to the layout. And since I know nothing about programming, I basically made it with cut and paste with FrontPage. That has prevented me from adding metatags and such to my site, so it is pretty hard to find. I know some people have found me through search engines and stuff, but I have yet to find my own page as a hit when searching for anything with Google etc! lol

Little known fact about Metal Metropolis: Scott actually came up with the name for my webiste, and for that he "won" a copy of Guardian's "Bottle Rocket" album, which he totally despise! (and I knew it before giving it to him!). lol

I forgot to add, Scott: I've been working on my website since 2001, and at least I've added Ultimatum!!

I know what you mean, I have a couple boxes of CD not yet reviewed on my site. Have a bunch of the newer Kamelot CDs. I listen to them and they don't do it for me so I put them back in the box and think to myself, maybe next time.

I discovered NLTM while googleing "Christian" and "metal" in an attempt to read secular reviews of Christian metal (wanted to see what "normal" metalheads thought of bands like Narnia, Seventh Avenue, Theocracy, etc.). Imagine my suprise when it turned out to be a Christian metal head reviewing Christian AND secular metal. It wasn't until I went through the website a couple of weeks in a row that I found out he was the vocalist of Ultimatum. Until I found NLTM and started reading posts on HOM, I thought I was one of the only Christian metal head out there who listens to ALL metal secular and otherwise.

Many years ago. Could be in 2000. Always liked it and i discovered some bands but most of the stuff Scott have, i have it too but i always like to know his opinion of an album and most of the times i agree with Scott. Also i have a lot of respect for him.

Like I said I discovered it in December of 2000 while I was searching for Mortification. It must have been online for no more than 2 months at that stage. I got in contact with Scott, and then asked so many questions that he finally told me he was the vocalist for Ultimatum. Then things made sense. Such a cool cool and humble guy.

I found NLTM in 2000 through a link on Lord God Space's site (anybody else remember that one?) which had a very similiar layout to NLTM but incorporated all sorts of non-metal. I like Scott's tastes a lot more so I just kept visiting and buying some of what he reviewed. I remember I sent him a cdr of some Motorhead tracks and that song Lemmy had on the Fresno Smooth soundtrack. That was probably 5 years ago now. Man, time has flown!

You know, I was just thinking about this.

I feel as though I found NLTM not by coincidence but by divine intervention. Here's why. 2004. I was looking for info on Riot discs as I had just started collecting them. Bam, found ult's site. Read up on Riot, collected all their CDs and that was that.

I had the site bookmarked and would visit it on occasion to read the reviews. Then one day in 2007 I saw where ult had this message board. So I lurked for a couple of days around the board before joining.

To make a long story short, this board has changed my life. Not only have I traded for some of the coolest CDs I have ever wanted, but I honestly have made some great lifelong friends and met a long lost Uncle.

Also, the divine intervention angle really is apparent by my conversation one ordinary day with T-Roy. Because of that talk I am going to school now to do what I have always wanted to do. God was working through Troy that day and he probably didn't realize it.

I need to be thankful for NLTM for getting this ball rolling so many years ago. So Scott, I am just one of I'm sure many people that God has touched through you and you may never have noticed it.
