Subject: What gear do you have to listen to music? Thu Jul 04, 2024 3:40 pm
In my old age I have become a little bit of an audiophile and bought a pair of Klipsch Forte IV's and paired them to a Cambridge Audio AXR100
It's a simple 2 speaker system but it really brings the music front and center. I have found a lot of current and older recordings sound really awesome and I can hear things I had not heard previously but the speakers make poor recordings really hard to listen to
What equipment do you all use to listen to music?

The stock CD player in my car (2013 Ford Focus) for on the road listening, and a crappy no-name portable player in my bedroom for around the house. I'm very low tech.
Occasionally I'll spin a CD on the BluRay player in our living room cuz that TV is attached to a sound bar.

I'm pretty low tech too. Standard cd player in my car. I have an old Sony stereo that I've had since I was like 26 or something

I kicked down the old system to my granddaughter Clodagh, last year on her birthday.
This is what I've pieced together since...

cool! No luck around here for used equipment. I am working on building my first subwoofer - it will be a 10" sub with woofer and amp from Parts Express

What she calls "Poppa's Stoner Shit"
Ya know Skynyrd, Zeppelin, Rush, Aerosmith, Grateful Dead, Allman Brothers and Bad Co.
As far as "metal" goes, she digs songs over bands. If that makes sense?

The last couple generations are into streaming individual songs. They don’t have the patience for sitting down and listening to a full album experience. I think Gen X was the last to buy the whole physical albums. After Napster came around, it almost killed the spirit of album collecting. Only us old timers still keep it going. But the revitalization of vinyl a few years back was a nice surprise!

hopefully! I am building a non-ported sub, which is supposed to better handle rock and metal.

She does not own a smart phone. Uses an old non-web flipper like me. I have given her a lot of vinyl/CD/cassette and she gives me a F'n thesis on each one.
What I was referring to was that she would dig this...
But not care much for this...
