| I was wondering how money we all spend on buying music each month. I made a quick count myself to discover I spend about 150 euros a month on music. Besides that I usually get 20-30 reviews cds a month.
I also spend about 100 euros a month on dvds (mostly movies and series).
What is your spending pattern? |

| My wife and I pool our salaries for all finances and then each get an "allowance" out of that pool. I probably spend $80 a month give or take of my allowance an cds....ridiculous, really, but it's what I love!! I know there are guys here who blow what we've been posting out of the water.... | |

This is where I'm at these days too (if even that much). My income just isn't as disposable as it once was.

| Probably about $200 a month. Not nearly as bad as forking out nearly $600 a month for food, which was a recent revelation of mine! I was spending about $20 a day on food, just because I didn't make my own lunch and such. Insane! |

She knows who she is marrying.... a music freak Then again she loves rock/metal music as well..... so no harm done... she buys a few cds herself each month as well.... Same with my lady, she loves metal and hard rock too. Her fave bands are SAVATAGE, ICED EARTH without ripper owens, DREAM THEATER, BRUCE DICKINSON, MEGADETH, old SLAYER, TIERRA SANTA, SARATOGA and a long etc...i could not be with a girl that doesnt like metal. Its to important to me and when i go to concerts she loves to come with me and have a great time. It's more important then you all even know that your woman like metal. I really wish I had that luxury. I stated the situation I'm going through in the "What do your parents think of metal" thread if you're interested. I warn you though my wife did like the music and look back when got married. They can and will sometimes change on you. I always find it strange though how she still loves the look on the bands/guys she liked just not on me. She'd of gladly married one of them I bet and never said a word. Funny what money, fame or playing in a band does to women. Just so you get an idea here is what I look like.

That's about TWICE what my family of 4 spends a month on food! Firefighter schedules allow us to work massive part time jobs or overtime if we chose, but I never have for the reason that I want to spend time with my Wife and kids while we're young. Guys are always giving me crap about that - like I'm lazy for not having ANOTHER job. Anyhow...my point?? I've discovered watching their habits and wastefulness that they basically need to work their part time jobs simply to pay for over-eating, throwing food out and superfluous eating out (not to mention beer and smokes and smokeless tobacco). They wonder how we live in a nice brand new home, take vacations all the time and such with my wife working only part time and me never working OT or part time and it comes down to money stewardship/management. In my humble opinion based on observation of my work mates their eating habits alone cost them $300-500 a month or more. Do you know what you can do with that much money?? So, Eyesore, I'm glad to see you've made that discovery. Lol, are you gonna do anything with that info? For some people the trade off is worth it. They hate cooking and eating out is so much easier they just do it all the time. They concede that they are spending loads on food but have decided to live with that.

| I don't hate cooking at all. I just never made the connection that I was spending so much money. You know, I get to work at 12:30pm; I'd go up to the cafeteria and buy a salad or sandwich or something. That would be $5 or $6. Then for dinner I'd order some take-out, subs and whatnot. I never do the fast food stuff, so everything I would order was a bit more expensive, $10 to $15, I'd say. Then I used to buy a couple sodas at $1.25 a piece, maybe grab something from the snack machine. For some reason, it just never seemed like a lot. But I was doing this EVERY day! Haha. It's one of those things that seem like nothing until you zoom out. So I have changed my habits. I'm probably spending about $200 a month on groceries and take-out, which seems to be normal. I just bought food like that for the convenience. But no more. Learned my lesson! You know how many CDs I can buy with that extra $400 a month? |

Good for you! That really is one of the ways people just piss money away without ever realizing it....
