| I got this idea at another board I frequent, and thought it would be a splendid idea to try here! The idea is to present a new metal song each day of the month. Each new day must represent a new year (you can start at what year you want, and end where you want, just make sure you go back at least 31 years for your first entry). I also would like it if you do your best to tie the entries together, with either titles, band members and whatever. We do 1 week each, and at every weeks end, the contender gives the task to a new member. Since this starts today, new persons will take over each Friday I'll start: March 7: 1980 - Iron Maiden: "Remember Tomorrow" from Iron MaidenYes, boys and girls, I'm starting with an absolute classic! Maybe not the obvious choice, but it is one of my all time favorite Maiden tunes, and one that only Di'Anno could do justice. This is a song that shows how diverse Maiden was from already from first go. The stereotype from the 80's wa that metal music was loud, abrasive and 100 mph all the time. And this was the perfect song to show the naysayers how wrong the were. Stay tuned for a new day, and a new metal song. So remember tomorrow! _________________

| March 8: 1981 - Def Leppard - "Another Hit 'n' Run" from Hign 'n' Dry
OK, so the link between Iron Maiden and Def Leppard is a little weak, but I jumped here because they were both leaders in the NWOBHM scene. I'll try to do better for tomorrow.
Anyway, This was Def Leppards second effort, which brought them a massive hit with "Bringin' on the Heartbreak". But I choose "Another Hit 'n' Run" as my pick for today, simply becasue it's my favorite of this album. It's a chugga-chugga riff-based rocker, that will lively up any party! A song that makes you glad, no matter what.
Well, that's it for today. Check back tomorow for another hit 'n' run! _________________

| March 9: 1982 - Accept - "Fast As A Shark" from Restless And Wild
OK, so I am cleary sucking at tieing bands together for this. I guess I'll have to try and twist my brain more later on. But for 1982, I chose another true classic. Hailed as one of the first, if not the first Speed Metal number, Accept's "Fast As A Shark" opened the ball on one of my all time favorite albums, 'Restless & Wild'. The opening with the traditional German oompa music, and Udo's unbeliveable sream does the trick still today. Then the song itselfs roars along reletlessly, and leaves your neck sore when finished. If you can sitt still during this classic, then chances are you're not a true metlhead after all.
Tomorrow will bring another metal classic, so be prepared, as it will appear as fast as a shark! _________________

| March 10: 1983 - Metallica - "Whiplash" from Kill 'em All
There wasn't much of a choice on what band to include for 1983. Metallica's debut album was the ignition that sparked the entire thrash metal movement as we know it today. And the song "Whiplash" had it all. This was relentless, furious and fast! This was the new era of heavy metal. If there is 1 song that defines thrash metal, Whiplash is it!
Stay tuned for more great metal, that is guaranteed to give you whiplash! _________________

| March 11: 1984 - Manowar - "Kill With Power" from Hail To England
Love 'em or hate 'em, you still gotta give this New Your band kudos for being consistent! "Kill With Power", one of the bands more known anthems, gives you everything you need to now about Manowar. From the classic 'Hail To England' album comes this powerful tune, with thunderous bass, manly vocal-work and more metal than most! Absolutly one of my favorites from the band.
Death to posers, hail and kill with power! _________________

| March 12: 1985 - Helloween - "Ride The Sky" from Walls of Jericho
It's the birth of speed metal! Nah, not really. But I will say that imo Helloween made the genre housebroken. And their debut full-length album sky-rocketed the bands career. Some fans still consider this the only true Helloween album. "Ride The Sky" might be the one song that showcase the genre, filled with speed, high pitched vocals, and plenty of melody.
Tomorrow it's the last day for my first wewk. I hope someone is geting at least something out of this thread, and want to continue it. If not, this thread will dissapear and ride the sky! _________________

Well, speaking for myself, I'm trying to see how this plays out before I attempt it myself.

| It's easy! Each day is one year - So if the last post was say, 1983, the next person will post a song from 1984. I was actually going to post "Hit the Lights", but never go to for some reason.
Here's mine
March 15: 1986 - Metallica - Master of Puppets
