I am a MONSTER Avril Lavigne fanboy.....

So, I took Auntie Saxon, Mother-in-law Saxon, and itty bitty Princess Brittany Saxon on a Cross-Canada road trip in 2002.  We ended up at the West Edmonton Mall in, duh, Edmonton.  Stayed at this theme-roomed hotel right in the mall.  My an Aunties room looked over the Water park, which was pretty cool.  Any-Hoo....The girlies went shopping, or to play Bingo, or to smoke weed in the parking lot with teenage boys, or whatever they do, and I stayed in the room and watched Much Music.  This chick came on and had a video for a song called Losing Grip [see below].  Blew...Me....AWAY.  Have followed her  as a  fanboy from afar ever since.  I have loved every note of every song  from every album ever since.  Finally got to see her.  Took Sweet Melissa [a casual fan, at best] to see one of her first shows on the tour last year.  There were many technical difficulties, but she is a show-woman extraordinaire.  Made us laugh and cheer the whole way!  So, long story short?  Who wants to drop dime on a metal board about something so not metal?  Here is your opportunity to unburden.  While you contemplate, here's this [blows away ANYTHING Amy Lee could even contemplate coming up with....]:

I think I'm with you on this one.  I haven't heard many songs by Avril Lavigne but what I have heard has impressed me.  I hadn't heard this particular song before but it fits the same frame of what I have heard. 

I don't think I want a whole album of this music but there's certainly nothing wrong with a track here or there.

Sorry, Thrashy. My GPS home monitoring ankle bracelet will only allow me to make silly posts on simpleminded metal boards that still hang on to 2006. It is what it is and I am utilizing my government forced sobriety to just make myself a part of a simpler time. Can ya hate a brother for that?

Can't say I've ever dug into Avril's stuff, but I dig plenty of similar artists...











Can't say I'm a fan of everything these gals have released, but I own some of their stuff and ain't ashamed.

I have never heard a single Avril Lavigne song. Or any of these other people. I last listened to the (playlist pop) radio around... 1996? Nowadays you can do just fine without and avoid easily.

She actually has relatives that live not that far from where I live.

To be honest, you probably heard three or four songs of hers at one point or another and didn't realize it.

I am not a fan of Avril but she is a talented woman, and talent is talent, no matter what the genre is

Spent the better part of the last hour of my life checking out those vids and then checking out other vids by Fefe. Will dig deeper on the others ken, but I can say say that Fefe and Sarah McLachlan would kill together. Thx for the hookup.

Color me impressed with Fefe Dobson as well.

I thought maybe that video posted might be an outlier like some of the tunes Janet Jackson puts out once in a while where there's a solid hard rock guitar.  But I guess not; I checked out 5 other Fefe tracks and they all had the same solid, guitar backbone, maybe not quite as heavy as this vid but solid enough.

The reason I discovered KMFDM is because I read a rumor that the band initials stood for "Kill M***** F***** Depeche Mode".  That of course isn't true but I did find a band I really like as a result of my hatred of DM.

We could go on for days about what KMFDN\M stands for. Personally? My fav is what you attempted to post above....

The more recent Fefe stuff leans more toward pop. Not really my thing, but she's got skills. Definitely underrated in that realm regardless.

First exposure to her was that annoying Complicated song, which didnt sell me on her at all, but then I heard the songs from her second album and that sold me on her.

I actually love her 2nd album , havent really heard anything past that one though
