I think I'm going to watch "Stacy" next.
It's another Asian zombie movie but this one is more in the vein of your typical zombie movie. The twist to this one is that this "zombie virus" affects only girls when they are entering puberty. It creates a new sub-species of homo sapiens known as "Stacies".
I've seen this one a couple times before but it's been a while. It's a gorefest and the basic concept is kind of different but as I remember it this was basically your typical zombie movie except all the zombies are young Japanese girls so I'm not expecting anything approaching the greatness I just watched.

"Welcome To Your Funeral: The Story of Rigor Mortis, Part One" (2015)
A charmingly cheap documentary (narrated by Phil Anselmo) about the semi-legendary Texas speed/thrash band, who rose from the underground and achieved instant cult stardom when they became the first Texas metal band to sign a major label deal, beating their cross town rivals Pantera to the punch by a couple of years. I hadn't heard Rigor Mortis in years, but this was a fun trip back in time. The band members told lots of hilarious stories of their days thrashing, drinking and brawling across the Texas club scene, and there are loads of vintage photos, concert flyers, live videos, and other fun stuff. The film is sub-titled "Part One," but considering that two of the Rigor Mortis members have now passed away (vocalist Bruce Corbitt, who directed this doc, and guitarist Mike Scaccia), I doubt we'll ever see a "Part Two."

Mike Scaccia was in Rigor Mortis? I only know him from Ministry.

Yup. Casey Orr (bassist) went on to "play" Beefcake the Mighty in GWAR too.
...all of which prob would've been covered in "Part 2" if it ever surfaces. This doc ended with them signing their major-label deal with Capitol.

Started "Stacy" on the elliptical today.
I totally forgot that this movie is deliberately campy and funny; I just remembered it for the unique concept of specifically having 16-18 year old girls be the only ones to become gut-munching zombies. I completely forgot that there's the "Romero Kill Squad" (the official organization for eliminating Stacies) and the ads for the "Bruce Campbell's Right Hand 2" which are commercials for "playfully colored" chainsaws for your own personal "repeat kills" of a Stacy (which has to be cut into 165 pieces in order to not come back to life).
It's over the top gory of course but all the intentional silliness turns the whole thing into gory slapstick. And I for one find the whole thing enjoyable. Sort of like Tokyo Gore Police - just put your mind in neutral and go with it.

Glad you liked it Mike. "Train To Busan" is the best movie I've seen this year.
Set aside all the zombie stuff and the excellent characters; that scene with the flaming train crash just blew my mind!

Watched more of "Stacy" while on the elliptical today.
This has me in the mood to watch all the Japanese gore flicks I own and I have A LOT! You have to get used to the Japanese "weirdness" of these things and the fact that a lot of them don't really make a lick of sense but once you get the hang of it they're enjoyable for what they are: exercises in extreme gore and extreme silliness. I think it's that dichotomy that draws me to these types of movies. If they were totally serious and took themselves totally seriously not only would I not be able take the extreme gore and violence but a lot of it wouldn't even make sense in a serious film.
These are like watching The Three Stooges but instead of Moe poking Larry in the eyes, Moe whips out a chainsaw and hacks off Larry's limbs one at a time (blood geysers shooting everywhere) then pulling Larry's eyes out of his decapitated head with his fingers and eating them. Then he moves on to Curly...
I think "Planet Terror" is the closest an American flick has come to this zeitgeist (Man, I finally worked that word into a sentence!)

It's funny how sometimes you just get "in the mood" for certain types of viewing.
For about the past year I was all about watching TV Series; I watched Star Gate: Atlantis and Enterprise and I'm still watching Star Trek:ToS at night when there's nothing on TV that interests me (since the Cardinals aren't playing )..
Then I got on a binge for watching 50's monster movies so I watched stuff like:
Beast from 20,000 Fathoms The Brain That Would Not Die The Manster Them
...and a bunch more.
And now apparently watching the Korean movie "Train To Busan" has put me in the mood for Asian horror movies and so...off we go again...

Excellent! if it's that same level of extreme goofiness layered on HYPER extreme violence and gore like Machine Girl or Tokyo Gore Police, that I'll be in heaven. I'm not sure I've seen ANY Western release that replicates the sheer over-the-top extremes of those movies. Of course, most Westerners don't understand that stuff...
I saw you mention the flaming train part from Train to Busan. Most of the set pieces from the movie were so EPIC! The whole section near the end in the train yard was fantastic.

Chernobyl Diaries(2012)-a group of friends on a trip of Europe, decide to check out one of the towns near Chernobyl after running into a man who can give them a guided tour of the place. However, their van breaks down, leaving them stranded in the city. They soon find themselves being attacked by something that dwells there and they must try to find a way out while trying to avoid the creatures as well as high radiation levels that are through out the town. This is a pretty decent film that while it doesn't have a lot of gory moments, it has some good, creepy atmosphere at times and moves along at a good pace. I give it 3 out of 5.

"The Substitute 3: Winner Takes All" (1999)
Treat Williams is back for another round of readin', writin' and corporal punishment. This time a college-campus visit to an old war buddy's daughter leads him to uncover a mob-run, school-supported steroid manufacturing operation on campus. The usual mayhem and destruction follows. More cheap & cheesy but entertaining action junk.

Oh yeah, that's exactly the style of "Stacy". And the "Near Death Happiness" the girls experience before they die makes you wish they'd die a lot sooner; geez that laugh is irritating. But yeah, it's that same unique Asian cinema aesthetic; over the top gore and over the top goofiness.
You know, now that I think about it, I think there are two American movies that are sort of in the same vein: Planet Terror and Evil Dead II. Both of those are somewhat more coherent than their Asian counterparts but they also have the same mix of over the top gore and deliberate silliness.

Z (2019)
A young boy creates an imaginary friend called Z but soon starts acting up and ends up suspended from school, blaming all his actions on Z. Things start getting progressively worse and soon it appears that Z may actually be real and has a connection to the boy's mother. There are some unnecessary jump scared in this one, but it is a rather effective thriller.

Ted (2012)
One of my favorite comedies of the 2010s. A reference to a scene in the sequel that was made during a discussion with my mother earlier this week inspired me to watch it again.
Ted 2 (2015)
I also thought I'd revisit the sequel, which I actually thought was as good as the original. Both movies were hilarious.

"Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle" (2017)
In a high-tech update of the '90s hit, four kids boot up an old video game and suddenly find themselves trapped inside it. To return home, their "avatars" (Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart and Karen Gillan) must battle a variety of bad guys and survive numerous perils to finish the game. Fast, funny, action packed, family friendly popcorn fun. My video game crazed 12 year old loved this one.
