There is a few Thrash docs on Prime that I will probably check out too, but I think tonight I will watch the Rainbow bar and grill doc.

"Nightmare City" (1980)
A TV news reporter and his wife try to escape a city full of radiation-poisoned, blood-drinking, homicidal maniacs spawned by an atomic spill. Umberto "Make Them Die Slowly" Lenzi's late-inning entry into the "Dawn of the Dead" knock off sweepstakes is a gloriously inept clusterf**k of atrocious acting, "Engrish" dialogue, awkward dubbing, and cheap gore. It sucks, but it sucks so awesomely that you can't take your eyes off of it. Essential Eurotrash!

Yep, that's this one. It's one of the many reasons I love this mess of a movie. There's no rhyme, no reason, it just hits the ground running and never looks back. It moves so fast that it doesnt have time to make any sense!

They can also use axes, shoot machine guns, and know how to cause a city-wide blackout by sabotaging the power plant. These are some smart zombies!

I KNOW I've seen this flick but it was ages ago and I was probably drunk as a skunk at the time. Back in the mid-80s I had a friend in TN who used to escape his miserable family life by inviting me over on a Saturday night to watch horror movies and drink beer. I lived in a trailer at the time so any excuse to get the hell outta there was welcome. I'm sure this is one we watched but as usual with many of the flicks from that exercise, I don't remember anything about it. I sure don't remember the goofy stuff you guys are referring to.
And of course reading all that just makes me want to watch it again.

Summer Of Fear (1978)
Tv movie with Linda Blair as a girl whose mysterious cousin that she never met moves in with her family after the death of her aunt and uncle in a car wreck. She soon discovers there's something more sinister to her cousin than meets the eye. Very slow moving with very little action until about 10 minutes left in the movie. Not awful but I've seen better.

"Vice Academy 3" (1991)
Ginger Lynn is back and breaking in a new partner in the 3rd round of no-budget T&A shenanigans. This time the inept vice cops grapple with a crime wave masterminded by the green-haired super-villainess "Malathion," who's played by super-hot adult film star Julia Parton (who is supposedly a distant cousin of Dolly's). As usual for this franchise, the plot is thin, the jokes are lame, the sets are cardboard, and the acting is terrible... but the eye candy is outstanding.
"Hitler Goes Kaput!" (2003)
Ooookay, I think I have officially found the weirdest movie on TUBI. This is a Russian comedy (with sub-titles), about the misadventures of a Soviet spy masquerading as a Gestapo official during the waning days of WWII. When he and his lovely code-breaker partner/girlfriend attempt to escape from Berlin back to the Motherland, they encounter a series of wacky obstacles that lead to a final "couples" showdown with Hitler and Eva Braun! ...I'm not gonna lie, I probably only understood about half of what went on in this movie... but after the opening credits, which were full of big-boobed girls and explosions (scored to a Russian rap version of Britney Spears' "Oops I Did It Again") I couldn't take my eyes off of it, either. I bet the filmmakers saw "Iron Sky" and said, "We can do that too." The Nazis in this movie have dance-offs, throw gang signs, and use modern conveniences like flat screen TVs and e-mail. Hitler has a "personal DJ" whose name is "50 Shillings." When the movie stopped making sense completely, I kept watching cuz the female lead was extremely, shall we say, "gifted" in the chest area. Obviously this was a unique viewing experience. Your mileage may vary if you understand Russian, I get a feeling that a lot of the humor is lost in the translation.

I watched Part 1 last night and Part 2 this afternoon. It's on Prime and I actually stumbled across it looking for the "Rainbow" documentary last night, The first movie is all about the mid to late seventies and the second is like 1982 to 87 or so. Lots of major interviews and appearances as well as some bands and artists I have never heard of before. It was very "in depth" and focused as much on the unknown/ local legends as it did on those who made it big.

Watched this last night. It was pleasant enough, but could've been better. Aside from no one ever hearing of the Beatles, there were a few other things the main character mentions and people just shrug their shoulders "Nope, never heard of _____ either". And it's never addressed again. It was a neat premise but they didn't push it far enough, if that makes sense. I still liked it though.

Two more Star Trek ToS episodes tonight:
"Dagger Of The Mind"
An insane doctor on the Tantalus penal colony has devised a device that can completely sap the will out of anyone subjected to it. Eh...OK episode
"The Corbomite Maneuver"
This one's a classic. The Enterprise encounters a strange, non-communicative spinning cube that keeps blocking their way and when it starts emitting dangerous radiation Kirk orders it destroyed. Before long the ship is confronted by a ship that's hundreds of time bigger than the Enterprise and seemingly captained by a strange-looking alien being. By the end we learn all is not as it seems and the "ship" is actually captained by Clint Howard in a child outfit (seriously!).
This one's a classic because it's not only well written and well acted but the payoff of having Clint Howard (who has since gone on to be a Z-movie horror staple) just makes this episode for me.

Watched "Dream Deceivers" yesterday with the wife. It's the hour long documentary about the 2 guys that committed to a suicide pact (one succeeded, one didn't) and the parents that tried to blame Judas Priest and "backwards masking".
It was an interesting look back to the 80's and the whole "blame heavy metal for everything we did wrong as parents". All it really did was expose what a messed-up family life the 2 teens had and what a waste of time and money it was for Priest to have to defend themselves. Unfortunately too was the other metalheads they interviewed in the doc. They all fit the perfect lunk-head, pot-smoking headbanger stereotype. Still an interesting watch.

I actually saw that in an "art" film theater in NYC many years go. The kind of high falutin' place that had a coffee bar and offered "subscription plans" at the box office (way before such things became fashionable.) I wore a Judas Priest t-shirt to the screening and as I walked down the aisle to my seat, all the hipsters and art-film nerds I passed were glaring at me like I was a serial killer. I guess they'd already made up their minds who the bad guys were in the movie.

Nightmare (1983)
Also know as The Horror Star. Dumb movie about horror movie buff college students (including Jeffrey Combs) breaking into the crypt of their favorite horror movie star and stealing his corpse. The star's wife and a medium ,upon finding his body missing, end up causing him to revive and steak havoc at their frat house, picking them off one by one. I had to laugh at the guy playing the corpse. He didn't know if his eyes should be open or shut, sometimes from shot to shot. Just not worth your time.

I reviewed that one on my blog a while ago. Kinda forgettable, but an OK time waster. Wasn't it "Frightmare?" At least that was the title on my dollar-store DVD.

Masters of Horror:"H. P. Lovecraft's Dreams in the Witch House"-a grad student rents a room in an old house while working on his thesis. Soon, he starts having strange dreams and begins to believe that a witch is coming into his room by traveling through dimensions. He has also befriended a woman that lives in the same house and thinks that the witch wants her baby to sacrifice. This episode is a pretty solid entry into the MOH series. This is still not my favorite, but is certainly much better than the last couple of ones I saw. Directed by the late genre favorite Stuart Gordon. I give it 2.5 out of 5.

The Big Sleep (1978)
Robert Mitchum stars as Raymond Chandler's private eye Philip Marlowe involved in a blackmail case that leads to a pornography plot and murder. All in all, a pretty good movie with a great cast, although Mitchum is a bit too old to be playing a part like this.
