I've never even been sure what that is supposed to be.  It sort of looks like a white sea lion head on a human body but the body has very little definition so it also looks like a sea lion head on some kind of stone.  And regardless, what the F does that have to do with the album title, the band or any damn song on the album????

And a damn fine album that is too; a constant spinner during my college years.  It's such a shame it's forever cursed with one of the worst (and most puzzling) album covers in music history.

(Although I do know of one that is worse and anyone who has ever read through a thread of "worst album covers" knows which one I'm referring to.)

I've always wondered about the promo visuals for that album. When they went on tour did they actually sell shirts with that thing on them? And did they play in front of a giant background image of it?

You have to wonder who actually signed off on it as a good idea.

But if you notice, as 007 keeps listing the Riot album pics, the thing keeps resurfacing.  I guess the image was so infamous it brought the band some publicity and like the old saying goes, "there's no such thing as bad publicity",

I have grown accustomed to him over the years but a seal named Johnny isn't as cool and awe inspiring as Eddie or Snaggletooth, for sure.

True, I didn't realize how long they stuck with it! What a weird phenomenon. I half wonder if the reason the band has now changed its name to Riot V is just to distance itself from the mascot!

The whole thing is just strange and funny in my book.

I just find the whole thing extra interesting because "Fire Down Under" is part of my "growing up soundtrack".  Man, did my friends and I play THE SHIT out of that album in college, goofy cover notwithstanding.

I see now. I hadn't really looked at any of them since Immortal Soul. The cover of Armor of Light is wild! They are selling a lot of different shirts on their website with him too.

It's actually because the band founder, Mark Reale, passed away.

The "V" is likely, as I've alluded to in my videos, Riot Mk V, a la Deep Purple (who divide sections of their career into Mk I, II, etc.), who were a huge influence towards Mark Reale.
