I don't know. I think his voice and range has kind of narrowed. His best work was on Edge of Thorns, and in the recent CIIC records he's not been using that much power and has kind of stayed within his comfort zone more, which at times can lead to a little flat sounding performance. Especially when metal is supposed to be always a little outrageous. And CIIC instrumentally is pretty damm heavy.
I still buy everything he does, CIIC and Machines of Grace, the new Avalon etc and this Angel-one will be no exception
