I would love to see a biopic on Bon Scott, but doubt the AC/DC guys would let them use their music or would Bon's estate be cool with any movie, but I am sure we shall see one, one of these years
That didn't stop them from making that terrible Jimi Hendrix movie starring Andre 3000 a few years ago where they couldn't get the rights to any of his music and reportedly just made shit up. Can you imagine a film about a legendary musician and you can't use any of their music? Preposterous.
Yeah, that was pointless. Sorta like a milkshake without ...well...milk. I lasted about half an hour and shut it off.

There's always two problems with rock biopics:
1. Rock artists are a broad bunch of extreme personalities. This can result in hammy acting. 2. The same plot devices and character arc tend to be used. Remember when Walk the Line and Ray came out just inches of one another? Good flicks, but practically the same movie.
Not saying this is how it is, but they are two areas that need to be considered in the writing stage.
Also I like what Manny had to say in the Crue thread:
Quote :
Rock/music bio pics are rarely ( actually never!) accurate. The best I have seen are 'Bohemian Rhapsody' 'Walk the Line' and 'Control' ( about Ian Curtis/Joy Division) that the director has knowledge of the artist and music, respects the audience, and make sure the music is front and center.
Others like 'The Doors' and 'Miles Ahead' are good films, but the person who's life is being depicted ( in this case Jim Morrison and Miles Davis) are the directors take on this person, and has no relation to the reality of who they were, expect in hyper-exaggerated version of their public image.
Most like the Hendrix film are mediocre, and usually don't have the right to use the music, but the scripts and directing are so clumsy, that is blessing.

This came out a few years ago...
It's more about Brian Jones and the early days of the Stones. I've never seen it myself so I don't know how good or bad it is. From what I've read, it's highly fictionalized like most rock biopics though.
