What do you do for work?

I literally get to play with giant Tonka toys from March-November. Work for a regional outfit that does dirt & asphalt road/highway work in Montana, Wyoming, and North Dakota. My time is split between operating heavy equipment & driving tractor/trailer. Love it!

Still a driver with Hertz.

That's cool; there's nothing like getting paid for doing something you enjoy doing. 

I'm in the same boat; I love looking for clues to solve puzzles and I get paid to do that in the IT world.  Sure, like anyone else there are days my job sucks but overall I really like what I do and you really can't ask for more than that.

I left 17 years of retail management behind to become a banker. So far...I like it.

From September 2019 until recently, I was a data processing clerk. I was on a contract term that ended recently. However, in March, when most places started closing due to COVID-19, my supervisor contacted me and told me there would be no work that day. The next day, I found out not to go back unless he messaged me. My contract just ended, and I have filed for unemployment.

Part time (sometime full-time) Janitor for a insurance company and prior to that a supermarket. Never made more than 8.50 per-hour since starting. Before that I was a front-end associate for the same supermarket.

The new minimum wage is $15 for most places.

That is true however were I am its right around 10 per hour. Should have updated my first post.

In May, I returned for another contract as a case processing clerk.

So tomorrow I turn in my two weeks notice. Worked for the same company for over six years, and if I had stayed in Seattle, I'd probably still be happy enough to stay, but this shithole I transformed to in Phoenix two years ago, continues to get worse by the day. Sometimes you just have to say fuck it. It's better this way. This way I leave on good terms. If I stayed, three people would be hospitalized, and I'd be in jail. It's a win for everyone.

So you went from 24/7 gloom and rain to scorched earth? Huge climate difference. Both can make you suicidal in their own way.

I grew up in scorched earth, it doesn't bother me that much. I tend to get tired of it towards late August, but it's fine. Can't beat the winters though that's for sure. Been back two years, and only have worn long pants three times lol

I pretty much wear shorts year round.

One thing I like about Phoenix is the local bands. Flotsam and Sacred Reich are from there. Halford lives there. I would dread the summer heat! HVAC techs are probably in high demand.

Kerry King lives here too, or used to. Way back in the mid 90's I worked with a dude that watched his house while on tour. I always tried to talk him into letting me go there with him just once so I could say I was in Kerry kings house, but he wouldn't let me lol

I was,also sort of neighbors with Alice Cooper way back then. He had a house basically across the street from the apartment I used to live in.

I keep hoping to run into Rob Halford one day. Out of all the people here, he's the one I want to meet most.

Oh and speaking of Flotsam and Jetsam, my dad used to have a friend that had a house that doubled as his business for building custom hotrods. I didn't find out until after we moved to Seattle, but Flotsam and Jetsam used to use his garage for a rehearsal place. My fucking dad failed to mention that until one day about a week before we moved. He had no idea who they were, and I'm like ready to punch him because his friend probably could have gotten me in to hang out and listen to them rehearse. Still pissed about that lol
