I'll throw in my "3 cents":
dUg Pinnick Ty Tabor Jerry Gaskill [only one solo album, and not one I pull out often. But, for the sake of cohesiveness...]
4th cent:
Also, that Steven Patrick - Red Reign was an album that slayed. Gonna crank that one again now [after, at least, a decade!!!!]
Ok, a nickel and I am done:
ALL of Minoru Niihara's solo/post-pre/side etc stuff is amazing! ALL OF IT! Sly, Ded Champlin, XYZ-A,. My fav being the Kick In the Ass live show that was only on vhs, but I transferred mine to mp3. Killer KILLER stuff!!

Good call on those King's X solo ventures.
I would include James Labrie in my list as well. Each of his three solo albums are much more listenable than anything Dream Theater has done in a long time.

One album I dig a lot is Steve Jones (of the Sex Pistols) Fire and Gasoline. It's more like The Cult than the Pistols, and it rips.
Plus that guy Alice Cooper still rocked pretty hard when he went solo. Michael Bruce's solo stuff is good.
And, it's kinda spotty, in that some of the tracks are garbage, but I mostly dig Duff's Believe in Me album.

Jani Lane
Just wondering what people are thinking of from Jani's solo material.... Back Down to One? I thought it was pretty subpar, even compared to the last couple Warrant albums he was on. The Jaberwocky demos are kind of interesting. It's too bad he abandoned the project. My favorite thing he was involved in outside of Warrant was the Saints of the Underground "supergroup."
I recently re-visited Back Down to One and the Saints album and found both to be quite enjoyable. BDTO is more poppy, but I don't mind that.

I just listened to BDTO as well because of this thread. I didn't find it unenjoyable, but I just wish the songs had more staying power. My favorite is the last track, "Sick," because it actually has a memorable guitar riff, and Jani does some cool layering things with the vocals in the chorus. It was great to hear his voice on something unfamiliar, but I just got kind of bored with the instrumentation overall, which was pretty much nothing but power chords.
BTW, does anyone have the fully mastered version of Jabberwocky that was allegedly leaked in the bootleg community in 2005? I only have the demos.

Ya had to follow his lifeline and where he was with each album. As far as divorce, questioning his spirituality, death, etc. But, I totally get where you are coming from. "Safety" still messes me up when I listen to it.
All my days ... all my life I have questioned wrong and right Anything that I see Makes me face reality And then there's you A million miles Come together in a smile Memories try to fade ... All the things that we've made And then my mind tells me To keep my heart in place
But your eyes Make me weak Make me strong Make me feel that I belong And your eyes Make me laugh Make me cry Make me feel that I can fly
Steal away for a call Hear your voice but that is all I wish I could hold your hand See you through and understand Is it real? Is this love? Is it push or is it shove? Will we play in the aisle? Or will it just last a while? But still my mind tells me To keep my heart in place
But your eyes Lift me up Bring me down Make me wish you were around And your eyes Make me see Make me blind Make me miss you all the time And your eyes See thru me See my soul Make me want to lose control
Funny thing ... Only takes just a little while To make it feel like such a trial And funny thing ... When we're together it's ok And we know just how we feel And we don't have to wonder if it's real But still my mind tells me To keep my heart in place
Hold on ... hold on ... hold on
And your eyes Hold the key to the door That I never saw before And your eyes Make me stand Make me fall Make me wonder at it all And your eyes Make me wish Make me wait Make me hope that you can hold on
Hold on ... hold on ... hold on

I'm emotionally void, so that would explain my laissez-faire attitude towards his music.

I bought for five bucks Shadow King - EBay - yesterday. Has Vivian Campbell on guitar - and ex- Foreigner singer. Should be rather interesting - on a snowy night - to check out !

I saw that album at my local shop and she wanted big bucks for it. I went home and researched the band, and saw the musicians and got pretty excited; then I checked the availability and they are all over the Bay for $5 or so. I then went to youtube and realized why there are so many copies and so cheap. I hope you like it, brother.

And here's one for the unfinished list: John Sykes! This long-delayed album should be hitting the market this summer, I guess. The track sounds far from final mix. It's absolutely heavy and sort of mesmerizing, but dense with studio-oddities and overlength. Still looking forward to when this is finally released.

I like the first Kotipelto (Stratovarius lead singer) CD Waiting for the Dawn. It has Michael Romeo, Roland Grapow on guitar, Mirka Rantanen from Thunderstone on drums, Jari Kainulainen of Stratovarius on bass and Janne Warman from Children of Bodom on keyboards.
And of course cover art by Derek Riggs.

I saw this one a few months ago at a record shop in Greece. I ended up buying kotipelto's Coldness instead. Both are solid releases.
