| Last thing I heard from Jon was all about TSO.
I was wondering what y'all thought about the chances of him making a metal record again? Because I don't have a good feeling. He's mostly been MIA since his stroke.

| I would think that the TSO tours take a lot of planning. So my bet is on that he won't. | |

| I had thought his health kept him from doing anything? I'd hate to see that happen. | |

| He tired creating new musical with his own solo career, Jon Oliva's Pain, but the record industry being what it is, those albums did not sell big numbers even by indie standards. Plus his work with TSO keeps him very busy. | |

And that TSO stuff pays handsomely. I'd bet TSO has made more for him than any other project with his name on it.

| Yes, he lost money with Savatage, but now he is doing really well. Good for him. He's one of the friendliest people in metal. He deserves all of it. But throw us metalheads a bone if you can. | |

| I'd love another Jon Oliva's Pain record, but I think "Pain" died with Matt LaPorte.
I think Jon should get together with Caffery and do another Doctor Butcher record.

| I really miss Oliva's metal contribution. We need a new album by him. In the interim, i just ordered caffery's solo album Faces. Was told that this album has a strong Savatage vibe. Also picked up Poets and Madmen, which was the only Savatage album still missing from my collection. | |

Faces is a great CD with both a Savatage and Doctor Butcher feel to it. It's aggressive and with a wonderful crunchy guitar tone. He really can't sing, but it doesn't matter it's infectious. A bit of a Jon Oliva -like snarl to his voice. You can tell he's been singing backing vocals for Jon. This one and Pins & Needles are my two favourite Caffery solos CDs, and pretty much all you need, especially if you got that 2 disc version of Faces. If not, Warped might be of interest too. I'm a big Caffery fan and like all 5 albums to an extent.

| Back in January of 2017, someone posted this on the Jon Oliva's Pain Facebook page:
"Big news coming soon....and long overdue!"
Not sure if that was Jon or someone else posting it. Someone posted again in June of 2017 about he passing of Paul O'Neill. It started with "Jon would like to say," so obviously it wasn't him. The following month someone posted about the Adrenaline Mob accident. Again, not sure who.
No updates since then.
It was July of 2016 that he posted about his stroke, saying a new double album would be coming. So who knows? Hopefully his health has improved and that's what he's been focusing on. It'd be a shame if he didn't change his ways and his health has gotten worse.

| That's what I'm hoping, eyesore. The last pic I saw of him, he looked like he had lost a little weight. - Lari wrote:

Yep. But his solo record was excellent too.

| I've been worried about his weight/smoking for a while now. I was scared it would catch up with him. He should consider himself lucky.
Not to mention that he had years of alcohol/drug abuse in his past. I just hope he is around for decades more and hopefully drops another Savatage album at some point.

| From what Ralph (RIP) had told me, his motivation to do any new Savatage is pretty much gone. All his effort goes to TSO. His occasional JOP and solo stuff is fun for him, but TSO takes up so much time. _________________ FINAL SIGN

Yeah, hard not to understand that, especially since the song that catapulted TSO to stardom was a damn Savatage song. That's gotta be some painful irony to swallow as an artist. Haha. I just hope he's healthy. If so, I'm sure we'll get some new music at some point.

| Been giving the Oliva disc a lot of spins. As much as I dig on the JOP stuff, prefer another project in the 70's vibe of that album. Check it out if ya haven't already, a good listen (IMHDO) _________________ | |

| I hope he isn't done making Metal music. I am glad he is still around and involved with TSO. The last solo album was great, but it wasn't "metal" though. As James B. stated, it was more of 70's style heavy rock. If Jon does another solo disc, first day purchase for me. And, most likely, all of you. | |

| I'm even okay if he makes another record like his solo album.
I may have told this story before. But the one time I saw Jon live was with JOP in Tampa.
When the show was over, he walked to the middle of the club, sat down and said "Here I am." Then he signed, took pics and talked to everybody who wanted to. I met him and he commented on my Criss shirt I was wearing. Then I took a pic with him, and thanked him for all the great music over the years. Then he looked right at me and said - " No man, thank you for listening." He's the most genuine person in metal, imo.
