The "Dukes of Hazzard" definitely copied Daisy's short-shorts and knotted shirt look from the gals in this movie.

The leading lady (Claudia Jennings, a former Playmate of the Year circa 1970) had a bad ending though...killed in a car crash in 1979. Shame. She was purty.

"Die Hard 2" (1990)

It's Christmas Eve, and good ole John McClane is "up to his a** in terrorists again!" A rogue military force has taken over Washington DC's Dulles International Airport, and of course, John's the only one who can save the day before planes full of holiday travelers (including his wife, Holly) start falling out of the sky. Bigger and faster moving than the first "DH," with an amazing supporting cast that includes Dennis Franz, John Amos, William Sadler (playing one of the best villains ever!), Franco Nero, and even Robert "T-1000" Patrick, this just may be the best "Die Hard" of 'em all.

"Soul To Keep" (2018)

A gang of annoying twenty-somethings are having a party weekend at a remote farm house. They make the mistake of messing with an old spell book they find in the cellar, and naturally things quickly go downhill from there.
...barely watchable demonic-possession nonsense, there's nothing here that you haven't already seen a thousand times in a thousand other, better movies.
AVOID.

Last night I watched a Drivin' 'n' Cryin' documentary "Scarred But Smarter: Life N Times Of Drivin' 'N' Cryin'".

My takeaway from this doc is that while DnC deserved a bigger audience than they ever achieved, a lot of their "wounds" were self-inflicted.  It was interesting to hear that Kevn Kinney apparently hates the "Smoke" album even though that's my second favorite album after "Fly Me Courageous" which he's apparently also not too fond of.

Jigsaw

Watched this with my Prime membership tonight.  The ways of "resurrecting" Jigsaw are getting pretty contrived but I have to admit I enjoyed this entry in the franchise.

My son and I went on Saturday to see:

"The Package" (2018)

Disaster strikes five teens on a camping/drinking weekend when one of the group accidentally cuts his (ahem) thang off while playing with a knife. Once he's been Medivac'd away, his friends have twelve hours to find their pal's missing member and get it to the hospital so it can be re-attached. Obviously, they will encounter a series of wacky obstacles and have various misadventures along the way.

...soooooo yeah, basically this ultra-raunchy teen comedy is a 90 minute series of dick jokes.

I rolled my eyes at my 16 year old son when he recommended this Netflix original to me after seeing it at a friend's house ("Oh my GOD, Dad, you GOTTA see this movie, it's SOOOOO funny!"), and yeah, it was gross, tasteless, and dumb as a box of rocks... but I can't lie, dammit, I laughed out loud quite a few times at this thing. This is the kind of "moron movie" that works best with your brain turned off, and a few beers in you.

"Tucker & Dale vs. Evil" (2011)

A pair of hillbilly buddies take a weekend trip to their remote mountain fishing cabin, which soon goes horribly wrong after an encounter with some college kids who've seen too many horror movies. Mayhem ensues.
A very funny, very gory spoof that takes every cliche' of the "backwoods horror" genre and turns them all upside down. Tons of silly fun.

I enjoyed that movie too.  Goofy fun.

On a side note, I can't believe I just found out my best friend has never seen "Meet The Feebles".  Good grief, I thought I'd loaned that guy all my favorite movies that he hadn't seen but apparently not. 

This travesty shall be remedied ASAP!

This was my 3rd (I think) viewing of Tucker & Dale. Still funny. Every time I see it I catch some bits that I missed the first time round.

My fave part is still when the guy goes head first into the wood chipper, Tucker tries to pull him out and ends up with just his lower half, then Tucker sez "ARE YOU OKAY?"

Same here. This season is getting way too much love IMO. But I'm only four episodes in. And those four episodes could easily be condensed into one hour.

Why does no one else notice how generic that conversations are? Where did the razor-sharp wit of this show go? The dialogue is stiff and generic as store-brand cereal.

"Vendetta" (1986)

After her sister is murdered in a corrupt womens' prison, a movie stuntwoman gets herself sentenced to the same institution so she can get revenge on the gang who killed her. Yep, that's the whole plot.
This very silly, so '80s it hurts women-in-prison flick is pretty typical for the genre, in that there's plenty of nudity (of course), comical fight scenes, and all-around horrendous acting. Entertaining enough if you've had a few beers.

The Mummy's Tomb

Family Guy re-run with the classic Monty Python ripoff of the heiress with the extremely long name (that even includes "Stolen Monty Python").

Drive-In double feature :

"The New York Hardcore Chronicles Film" (2017)

Members of Agnostic Front, Madball, Judge, Sick Of It All, S.O.D. and many more look back on the glory days of the '80s NYHC scene and examine its continued influence on current underground music and culture. Featuring lots of great stories and vintage photos and film clips, this documentary drew me right in even though I'm not even much of a HC fan. Cool stuff.
