| Damn Pirates! Geez are they even trying???? It's already 3-0 Brewers in the 3rd.
When was the last time the Pirates won a game? Every time I look they're losing. No help in reducing the magic number from Pittsburgh apparently. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Watched the Cards beat the Cubs again after a back and forth game. After a terrible balk call in the 8th led to a two run homer to put the Cubs in front, the baseball gods corrected the ump's stupidity by giving the Cardinals back to back homers off Craig Kimbrel on back to back pitches. Cards won game 3 of the final Cards/Cubs series at Wrigley this year 9-8.
Magic number is now 5 pending how badly the Brewers beat the Pirates tonight. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Good grief man, your team has no shame. Are they playing Little Leaguers? They're not just losing, they've been getting totally shellacked for the past week. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Honestly, I've quit watching them quite a few weeks ago. I just check the score from time to time. They've checked out since the end of August and are just going through the motions. The fans are staying away from the stadium (my boss has season tickets-box seat no less-and couldn't give them away) but all that's going to cause is an even lower payroll next year. It's absolutely ridiculous. | |

| Watched the Cards complete a 4 game sweep of the Cubs at Wrigley. First time that's happened since 1921. The win also guarantees the Cardinals are in the post-season. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| I just can't get into the NFL anymore since I don't have a team to root for. I don't even have many teams to hate (New England and the Rams being the only teams I care about and that's in a negative way). It's frustrating because I really don't give a crap about the league anymore other than hoping LA and NE lose.
I guess I'll just keep trying to get my football fix from the NCAA. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Watching the Cubs @ Cardinals.
For all the bitching I heard Craig Counsel was doing about the Cubs playing "scrubs" against STL the "scrubs" have been doing just fine.
Besides, the normal Cubs starters who are missing have legitimate injuries so it's not like Maddon is playing minor league players.
The Cubs won last night and are up 3-0 tonight after 4. Last night the Brewers lost to the Rockies 11-7 so I'd suggest Counsel shut up and worry about his own team; the team the Cubs are fielding is definitely a major league caliber squad. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Watched the Cards blowout the Cubs 9-0 behind Jack Flaherty to win the NL Central Division title.
Next up: the Braves on Thursday.
This should be an interesting matchup as both teams have a lot in common. Both have a lot of young players mixed in with some veterans, both have a couple of young stud starting pitchers, and both teams have had inconsistent offenses. I predict this one will definitely go 5. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Yeah, sorry 007; baseball world still goes on at least for me.
Man your Pirates sure are a bleak team. It would be different if they had a strong minor league system that had some promising prospects in the pipeline but as far as I know they don't. And they sure don't have the revenue stream to buy any quick fixes.
It sure looks like they'll be in the NL Central cellar for a while because all the rest of the teams in the division are looking up. Look out for the Reds next year because with their offense and their up and coming pitching they should be contenders next year. The only team in the division I can't find a lot of positives about is Pittsburgh. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| ^^^ Yeah it looks like they'll be regressing back to those dark days of 20 some years in a row of losing. Hurdle was fired yesterday but I'm not sure he was the problem. You can only manage what's given to you. What needs to change is ownership (not gonna happen) and upper management (maybe, we'll see). | |

Washington has looked pathetic. And FINALLY, the Nats advance in the post-season. I didn't really care who won this game but I was sort of pulling for Washington because I think their pitching provides more of a challenge to the Dodgers who I really don't want to see go to the World Series again this year. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.
