Funny you mention Elton John. I'm currently reading a book called "In His Own Words" that's strictly quotes from Elton about his music, his life, the press, his career, etc. I'm a HUGE EJ fan but I always have been; he's NOT one of the artists I had to learn to appreciate; I've always dug his music. I've also seen EJ in concert more times than anyone else (5). Always a great show.
