What do you think? I'm a big AiC fan, but that last one was a real snoozer and a lot of the reviews on Amazon are saying the same thing about this one. I'm hesitant to pick it up.
I haven't paid much attention to these guys in a decade or so, but my boss keeps playing this over and over at work (they are his fave band) and I like what I hear. There's no mistaking it's them, but not a stuck in the past sound as though they kept repeating the same formula album after album.
I like it, but I'm not blown away or anything. Pretty much on par with everything they've done since Dirt. Good, not great.

Not the ringing endorsement I was hoping for. I'll hold off until I find a cheap copy I guess. There's enough music out there I'm more excited to hear right now instead of just another album of "meh".

Walked into my local Goodwill this morning on the way to work, and found the CD/DVD section almost completely empty -- there were big signs all over the shelves saying that all CDs, records, books and DVDs were 10 for $1.00. Obviously the bulk of their stock got wiped out over this past weekend. The few CDs that were left weren't even worth spitting on, so I walked out empty handed.
Dunno what brought on the fire-sale pricing, but I hope it means that they needed to clear some space for new stock, and not "We wanna unload these things fast cuz we're not going to sell them anymore."

Yeah, really. I hope they are not phasing stuff out and are just making room for new stock. I have found a few cassettes (I think I am the only one here who still collects) that were worth grabbing at half a buck a piece, but no such luck with CD's or vinyl. Real picked over an the few titles worth a couple of dollars I already have.

That Goodwill has been a surprisingly reliable watering hole for me for the past couple of years so it would suck to lose it. I am off from work now till next week so I guess I'll stop in there again on Monday and hope the stock has been replenished... fingers crossed!
Back on topic, these came in today's mail via trade:

You know things are bad when Goodwill decides something's not worth selling.
Twisted Sister - You Can't Stop Rock and Roll (2 CD w/Live at the Marquee)
Had some time to kill while wifey was shopping at Target, so I hit up a local Newbury's. I really only wanted the live show as I already had this disc with the bonus tracks. THe band sounds great (young and hungry) and the production is pretty good for 35 years ago. Dee's stage banter is at times hysterical, but his ude of the F bomb is a bit tiresome.

I don't know if I too have the anniversary edition, but I have a bunch of bonus tracks on mine. Good album. It doesn't get as many spins as Overkill, Perfect, or Iron Fist, but it's the foundation of the awesomeness that is to come. Keith, you are inching ever closing to completion, my Metal brother. Haha.

That debut has been re-issued and re-re-issued so many times, there are probably at least a dozen different versions out there now, haha. This one has a red cover instead of the usual black, and a total of 20 tracks -- the original album (8 tracks), the "Beer Drinkers & Hell Raisers" EP (4 tracks) and a bunch of B-sides/alternate versions. Cool stuff.
...and yeah, my Motor-studio-discography inches closer to completion. The only studio albums I still need now are Hammered, We Are Motorhead and On Parole.
(if anybody's got those CDs for trade, gimme a holla!)
