Beer!

I don't like coconut so I skip those. Their VaS, coffee, vanilla porter is grand.

I still have one bottle of Ballast Point crap left. It's called Mocha Marlin. I think I already poured one of these down the drain but I'll give it a shot.

I enjoy that one too but it's not their best. You let it warm?

yeah and it's awful. I think I must have gotten old beer.

I got a 12 pack of Alaskan sampler earlier. Alright had this one but drinking the Amber tonight.

They've got some decent beers. You need to hit up Pelican Brewery.

Made a run to the beer store today and came back with a bunch of new discoveries I'm going to try over the next several months.

Tonight it was a new variation by Southern Tier on their Choklat stout. This one's called "Thick Mint" and adds some mint flavor to the normal dark chocolate flavor of Choklat. Very good. I'm also tasting a new one from Schlafly; a bourbon barrel quad. I've had other BB quads but this one has a little bit different taste; I'm getting much more of the bourbon barrel "oakiness" than I usually taste in these types of beers. Or maybe my beer tastebuds are just more acute these days since I limit myself to no more than two beers per night. Regardless, this one is also very good.

Pelican makes a great stout.

As for bourbon barrel aged beers, i'm over it, it's gotten out of control.

Yeah but a bourbon barrel Belgian Quad is a different "kettle of fish". I agree the whole bourbon barrel stout has gotten old.

Just got back from the "uppity" grocery store where in addition to groceries I picked up a bottle of Avery's "Tweak". I had this a while back and loved it; BB stout with coffee. It's expensive but worth it if I remember correctly.

Tweak is awesome but my credit rating is too low. Had a Dead Guy Ale with lunch. always forget how much I enjoy that one.

I had a boss who gave me a bottle of Dead Guy Ale for my birthday (because of my name).  She also gave me a bottle of Holy Grail Ale (because I'm a Python fanatic).  I remember liking both but haven't had either one in a long time.

Last night I had Avery's Maharaja Imperial IPA.  From a can!  I sure hope they keep making this.  I read that Avery has discontinued "The Leader" series (you know, The Czar, Maharaja, Kaiser, etc).  I like all of those.  In fact I think I'd say Avery is my favorite brewer.  I don't think I've ever had anything from them that I didn't like.  Even their weird beers like Rumkyn and Pumpkyn.  Yeah they're pricey but you get what you pay for.

I did a taste test tonight.  A glass of Boulevard's Smokestack Series Bourbon Barrel Quad followed by a glass of Schlafly's new Bourbon Barrel Quad.  It's not even close; Boulevard's just tastes like a regular quad, very little bourbon barrel flavor.  Unlike Schlafly's which has a much deeper, complex flavor and definitely has the bourbon barrel taste.

I'm glad I picked up another bottle of the Schlafly's today when I saw it at my local grocery store instead of having to drive out of my way.  This stuff is great!

I hear a lot about Schlafly but we don't get it here.

Schlafly is slowly but surely expanding but it's going to take forever to get to you.

Tonight trying a Caramel, Machiatto, Milkstout by Red Hook. When you're on a budget you drink fake craft beer sometimes.

Hey, it's only 32% bought out and it's a decent milkstout.

Finally procured some Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA. 

As usual, it was expensive (8.99/12 oz bottle) and high in calories (535) and ABV (18%).  Drank one last night and while it was good, I don't think it's worth the 8.99 price tag (unlike their World Wide Stout which has the same statistics but I feel IS worth it).

The bottle says this stuff will age well for years so I'll probably stash the rest in my "beer cellar" along with the recent vintage North Coast Old Stock and 2017 Backwoods Bastard.

The 120 is good but I won't spend that much for it though the 90 Minute is fairly awesome.

I agree.  But if you ever have the chance to purchase the World Wide Stout I think you owe it to yourself to buy a bottle to try it at least once.  It's so awesome IMO.

Had a Red yesterday from River City Brewing, a sort of local brewery. Been trying Reds lately, really enjoying some of them.
