Preordered and should have it on Friday. Very stoked for this one!
Me too but I ordered from Styxworld and have not received any notification that it has shipped yet. Maybe today or tomorrow! I preordered on the site because that was the only place to get the autographed clear vinyl, Amazon only had black vinyl. If there is too much of a delay I will just download the tracks, so far I have downloaded the first three.

Wow, this is some GOOD stuff. Here are a few:
The album is best listened to as a whole. It all blends together much like a Pink Floyd album. I like it a lot so far but can't decide where it falls. It isn't like Grand Illusion or PO8. Kind of stands on its own but it definitely sounds like Styx. Actually, some it reminds me more of the Wooden Nickel stuff than the A&M stuff. The most Styx sounding is the short opener, "Overture". I was waiting for the "Midnight Ride" or "Renegade" moment but it isn't here. Thats not a bad thing, just different. I think old Styx fans will be pleased.

i picked up this album myself. i have not really kept up with 'em that much but Pieces of Eight and The Grand Illusion were played quite a bit. same with even Kilroy Was Here during my childhood days.
but i picked up this album with a open mind and was very pleasantly surprised. "Gone Gone Gone" is my favorite track though. but the album is not really meant as a song based album. it's pretty much in itself one big ass long song that is scattered with impressive moments.
solid album that very much dials back to their 70's period.

I got my copy the day it came out. To me it has kind of a Yes meets Spocks Beard feel to it. I like the return to their vintage sound on this record, but as a lifelong fan of those band The Mission is not my goto Styx record

My "goto" Styx record is Equinox. It would probably be Grand Illusion had album radio not played it to death back in the day.

If I had to choose a goto record by Styx it would be a 3 way tie between Grand Illusion, PO8, and Paradise Theatre. Equinox would also rank pretty close along with Styx I I

I like Po8 a lot too. In fact to this day I maintain that the quartet of Equinox, Crystal Ball, Grand Illusion and Pieces Of 8 is one of the best consecutive quartets of albums any band has released. I love all 4 of those...

I agree, it easily ranks up there with Styx's best albums.

I'd go see that show with either one of those opening acts. I need to see if that tour is coming here.
EDIT: Well that was fast. As soon as I typed in STYX and clicked on their website I was told that the Styx/Joan Jett bill is coming here July 7. Unfortunately it's at an outdoor venue which means in July in the STL it will most likely be hot as hell. I might still go if ticket prices aren't outlandish. Oh... I see...it's a three band bill. Tesla/Joan Jett/Styx.

Tesla is always awesome. I like Tommy Shaw, but neither Styx nor Joan Jett is much of a draw for me though. I'll pass on this tour.

Toho if you haven't seen Styx lately check em out. Maybe lawn seats will be affordable I have a friend going to see them in Nashville and lawn seats are less than 30 bucks. Tesla puts on a good show as well. Would love to see all 3. Not a big Joan fan but would be awesome to see her live.

I'm thinking about it. I was just a casual fan of Joan Jett but her last album "Unvarnished" still gets a lot of play from me.

They switch between doing tours of theaters and House of Blues-type venues on their own and opening up these kind of bills in the sheds over the summer. I imagine its a good gig and cool for them to play in larger venues even if they only get to play 7 or 8 songs. I wish they were opening the Whitesnake/Foreigner tour instead of Jason Bonham's Zeppelin tribute.
