I'd like to see a Dodgers/Astros World Series. Some real interesting pitching matchups to be had and both teams can rake.

I think the 'stros could put up the best fight against the NL juggernaut that is the Dodgers. Those games could be real interesting; one day it could be something like 12-11 and the next day it could be 2-1.
Of course a lot hinges on the health of Kershaw by then.

That's true. Hoping it isn't anything major.

Watching the Dbacks @ St Louis.
Scary moment in this game when Cardinal rookie Luke Voit hit a ball with an exit velocity of 108 off of pitcher Robbie Ray's head. Ray naturally went down in a heap and Voit joined the AZ players surrounding the mound as the trainers worked on Ray. Ray was able to walk to the cart with help and waved to the crowd as he was driven off the field.
Hope he's OK. Nice show of sportsmanship by the rookie too.
UPDATE: The Cardinal announcers just said Ray was alert and talking when he was taken to the hospital for further tests. That's a good sign. You should have seen the moment; it was like 40,000 people were attending a funeral, real quiet until Ray sat up. Very scary. The ball was hit so hard that the Dbacks third baseman actually caught the richochet off the pitcher's head as if it was a pop fly for the out.

That was very scary, really hope he's okay. They really need to come up with something to protect pitchers heads. At least a padded hat of some sort. Hats off to the cardinals fans. Very classy with the way they dealt with it.

Wow. Talk about sucking.
The Cardinals were probably going to lose to AZ anyway because after the first inning Greinke has been dominant. But in the 7th the Cardinal bullpen did its usual job of making sure the game is out of reach as Kevin Siegrist gave up 3 hits, 3 walks and 4 runs in 1/3 of an inning. That's sort of an accomplishment; letting 6 guys reach base while only recording 1 out. OR it tells you how little confidence Mike Matheny has in the Cardinal bullpen.

Well STL earned a split of the four game series with AZ.
Lance Lynn struggled all game but managed to hang in for 6 hard-fought innings and only gave up 2 runs. As usual he Cardinal offense was keeping the fans cool in the ballpark by swinging and missing a lot but after taking a 3-2 lead late the dreaded Cardinal pen was lights out for once. Where has this Trevor Rosenthal been? This is how he looked in April and May then for June and most of July he went back to being Trevor "Blowsitall" like he was for most of last year.

the phillies beat the Braves for the second day in a row on a walkoff. the phils are 8 for 10 against the braves (and 0 for the rest of the league). If only we could only play the braves each game!

I think both of those teams have a nice nucleus of young players to build around.

Yeah but the Phils have the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs! What more do you need?
(I grew up in Lehigh Valley BTW)

no. I was born in Lancaster and this part of Maryland is a lot closer to Philly than Baltimore or DC. Most of the people in this area are Philly sports fans. I lived in PA for a long time before moving to MD so it is ingrained in me.

You can still be cured. I spent 20+ years in PA and look at me now, I'm a Cardinals fan!
Oh wait, I was a Cardinals fan for those 20 years in PA too. Nevermind...
