I had no idea Roger Corman was still making movies!
He hasn't actually directed a film himself since "Frankenstein Unbound" in the early 90s, but his studio (New Horizon) is still cranking out cheapies for SyFy and video-on-demand. I guess being the boss man means you get to have your name above the title of everything your company puts out.

Return Of The Evil Dead (aka Return Of The Blind Dead) 1973
Second film in the Spanish/Italian trilogy centering around the undead Knights Templar, blinded by villagers 500 years ago then burned alive, returning to the village to enact revenge. A rather uneven film, the story is roughshod (what the undead can and can't do changes to fit the plot),the dubbing is somewhat laughable, but the Knights Templar look pretty cool. I noticed that the first film is also available to me so I have to check that one out too.

So I watched the first movie starting the Blind Dead trilogy,Tombs Of The Blind Dead, and it sucked. First of all,the audio was out of sync with the video, being seconds ahead of what was happening on film (come on Shudder!), second the origin of the Knights Templar undead status and their m.o. is sightly different, third the dubbing is atrocious and finally the Knights Templar costumes are nowhere near as good as the second film. This was a very disappointing film.

"Contraband" (aka "The Smuggler," 1980)
Italian splatter kingpin Lucio Fulci takes a swing at the "Eurocrime" genre with mixed results. A turf war breaks out in Naples between a crew of cigarette smugglers led by nice-guy hood Fabio Testi and a brutal new gang of drug pushers who want to muscle in on the territory. This flick takes a little while to get going, but the second half is positively packed with Fulci's trademark ultra violence, blood, guts and sleaze, so once the bodies start droppin' it's entertaining in a grimy sort of way.

House Of Frankenstein (1944)
Universal Pictures first big monster mash starring Boris Karloff as a vengeful mad scientist after the people who put him away Along the way, he uses Count Dracula (John Carradine, not Bela Lugosi unfortunately) and the Frankenstein monster (Glenn Strange) as his tools of vengeance, with the Wolf Man (Lon Chaney Jr) caught in the middle. Not a great film by any stretch, but a fun viewing nonetheless.

Babylon 5 - S1, eps 20 & 21. 3 more left until I start season 2 and that's when things really start rolling.

"Suicide Squad" (2016)
A top-secret Government project releases some of the DC Universe's worst super villains - including Deadshot, Harley Quinn, and Killer Croc - from jail and forces them to team up against a supernatural threat to the entire world. Naturally, lotsa stuff gets shot at, blown up and pulverized along the way. The movie even makes time for blink-and-you'll-miss'em appearances by Ben Affleck's Batman and the Flash, but while Harley's boyfriend The Joker may have received most of the hype, his role is also little more than an extended cameo, which is a shame.
A lot of fanboys seemed to hate this flick but I got a kick out of it - it definitely doesn't skimp on action. Legend has it that there was a lot of behind-the-scenes tampering with this movie right up until the release date so even if the result was a bit of a disjointed mess, at least it was an entertaining mess. I liked it much better than the bloated "Batman v. Superman," for whatever that's worth.

I still need to see that one.
But based on the trailers I'm willing to bet what holds it back is having to conform to the dreaded PG-13 rating. From what I've seen that flick had all the potential to be a cult classic if given the leeway an R rating would allow.

I haven't seen Suicide Squad yet ( my daughter has the movie) but I'm not in any real rush to see it. I 'be always been more if a Marvel guy but that doesn't mean I automatically hate everything DC. My issue with the movie is that they have such lame characters. I have to be the only person in the world that finds Harley Quinn one of the most annoying characters ever (I'm talking Jar Jar Bink's annoying for me). A character derived from a cartoon show? Come on man

Went out with the missus last night to see:
Elle
Paul Verhoeven is back in the director seat after a ten year hiatus and knocks it out of the bloody park. Who else could START a movie with a rape scene, and not have it fall apart? Isabelle Huppert is phenomenal, and should at least get an Oscar nod for this. Part revenge thriller, part black comedy, part drama, it just f*cking works!

Watching NETFLIX original series "Frontier", I dig it. Only seen two episodes so far, character development is building nicely, and has a few plot twists to keep ya guessing.

xXx: The Return of Xander Cage Rogue One
It's kind of weird how Donnie Yen is in both movies, and I saw them both in the cinema within a few days of each other.

DS9 is easily my fave Star Trek series and one of my all-time fave shows. I got mine thru ebay for about $135 and it was a legit set.
