I have a similar experience: back in the 80s all I had was the s/t, but I did not care for it much ( unlike today where I love it ). Some years ago with the advent of streaming I started listening to them and since then I became a fan.

I did not quite like the latest albums at least not as much as the the albums from s/t to Crusader.

I just gave a second chance to the later 90s and 00s Saxon albums and they are pretty good..

I bought “ Metal Crusade “ Tribute to Saxon. Pretty good !

Me too. I dig these kinds of tributes.

If I made an album with underrated Saxon songs, I'd put in "Cut Out the Disease", "Walking the Steel" and "S.O.S." at least.

I should make a nice 45 minute playlist of Saxon songs nobody ever talks about.

I personally prefer Saxon's later material much more than their early years.

Saxon are one of those bands who got better and heavier over the years. Their latest albums have been very "metal" indeed .
