Well, yes. I mean, there's Cozy Powell. And Geezer, too.
The Glenn Hughes album was more of an Iommi solo record.

I consider Headless Cross to be one of Black Sabbath's best albums.

My understanding is that Forbidden is going to sound very different with the new Iommi mix. They used different takes for vocals.

I have it in my hands. It just arrived. It's been 8 years, 4 months since the start of this thread.
It feels pretty great.
Finally

How do you like it?
I think it's all fabulous. Tony Martin is a great singer, the riffs are quality, and even Forbidden sounds like a Sabbath record.

My first Black Sabbath album was TYR . I found it to be so poppy and lame , that I traded it on the same week for Vol 4 .

Vol 4 is one of my top three Sabbath albums.
That said, I actually like TYR. It’s very melodic!

Tyr is great. That's gotta be the first time I heard it described as "poppy".

He’s mistaking melodic as “poppy”.
The only thing about some of the Martin era albums is a more polished production and a lot more keyboard than the Ozzy and Dio stuff. But I love all of it! In my opinion every Sabbath album is good (except “13”). There is some filler on Technical Ecstasy and Never Say Die… but the only crappy album is “13”. And that’s because the songs were forced and uninspired. It didn’t include Bill Ward, and Sharon Osbourne was meddling in their affairs.
The new remixed version of Forbidden is great!

Here's how I rank the Martin era Sabbaths, in order of preference (best to worst)
Headless Cross Cross Purposes TYR Forbidden The Eternal Idol
...yeah, I know, everybody seems to love Eternal Idol but aside from the opening track ("The Shining") it's never quite clicked with me. Tony Martin walked into that when the album had already been written and partially recorded, so he didn't have much of a chance to put "his" stamp on it. He was basically handed a script and told "here ya go kid, go nuts."

I rank them in this order: Headless Cross Tyr The Eternal Idol Cross Purposes Forbidden
I found it weird how Tyr was described as "poppy" earlier in this thread. Maybe if the only song you heard from it was "Feels Good to Me", you might think that, but that's such a strange way to describe Tyr.

I want to say that Geoff Nicholls was a very unsung hero of the Tony Martin era.
His keyboards added a lot of atmosphere and helped fill out the overall sound. I also liked that he only played what was needed for a song. There was no keyboard soloing!

Sabbath just shouldn't sounds as "melodic" as it sounds on TYR . It's just my opinion , but the music was so far removed from their classic 70's era that I cannot even consider this to be "Black Sabbath" , more a solo project of Tony Iommy or something like that ...

I feel that Eternal Idol is the best of the Martin era. Everyone seems to rag on Forbidden quite I bit, but I always likes it. Is it better than the others from that era? No. But it's not the pile of dog crap left on the kitchen floor for the 5 year old to step in and track through the house
