Many of my favorite Iron Maiden songs...are covers.

I know we've talked about cover tunes before, but the interesting thing is that Maiden is SO good at them, that often I think they're some of the best songs they've ever recorded.

I know I've forgotten some, but those are my favorites. They would go on ANY Maiden compilation I put together.

I've always liked their cover of "Women In Uniform".

I dig Maiden's version of "Cross-Eyed Mary" too. Their cover of Golden Earring's "Kill Me Ce Soir" is pretty neat too.

I should probably have used the word "many" instead of "most" in the thread title. (hell with it, I changed it).

Anyway, their b-sides to me were often more interesting than the songs on the album (I Got The Fire, Total Eclipse)

I've got the fire is good, they have TONS of covers.... Them and Metallica are neck and neck for number sof covers recorded

Thank you mc666, I have never actually heard Skyhooks only heard of the name, are they worth looking into?

i don't particularly like them, but i'm sure Rattpoison does. they are more his kind of band being kinda glam rock.

Ya, I looked up metal archives to see if maybe they had put something together that I missed. If both Iron Maiden and Anthrax can put official compilations of all their cover songs ever, it would be awesome.

I saw that same bootleg years ago I forgot the title but the bootleg I saw used the cover to 'Piece of Mind' here is a link to website that list some of Maiden bootlegs known to exists.

I have something similiar to that by W.A.S.P., all b-sides and covers. They've all since been released on their re-issues, but it's still nice to have it all on one disc. That would be awesome if Maiden, Anthrax (and I'll add Tesla to that list) would put something together.

Iron Maiden should put together a compilation that includes all their covers instead of another Greatest Hits package, but they did do nice job on Eddie's Archieves compiling alot of these tracks.

Motorhead should do one as well, they've recorded a ton over the years.

Yea, I would buy that without hesitation. Some of the Maiden covers I have, but I'm missing more than I own.

I have a sampler of that,is "All In Your Mind " a cover,never seen it anywhere else before.......

That song was originally recorded by the Strays around 1973-74

Yeah,I was thinking it had kind of an "off" sound,but it is a cool kind of change of pace,its heavy but extremely catchy,funny thing is I don't even remember how I got the sampler.......
