Another favorite wrestler from my childhood. I got to see Mr Fuji wrestle solo against Chief Jay Strongbow. Sad to see him go.

I think Mr. Fuji and Strongbow had a ton of matches.

Later in life Mr. Fuji was a ticket taker at a movie theater in East Town Mall in Knoxville, TN. Growing up there I am very familiar with the area and since my in laws live near the the mall I always had plans to stop by there and say hello to him. Never got the chance but my son who still lives there used to see him all the time when he went to the movies.

If I had a dime for every time I saw Mr. Fuji win by throwing "salt" in his opponent's face I'd be a rich man.
I go so far back with Mr. Fuji that I remember when he and Tanaka were managed by the Grand Wizard. I just looked it up on Wikipedia and that was 1972.
HAHAHA! The Wiki entry even talks about the salt!
Quote :
Fuji debuted in Vince McMahon, Sr.'s World Wide Wrestling Federation in 1972 as a heel. He formed a tag team with Professor Toru Tanaka and the duo were managed by the Grand Wizard.[6] Tanaka provided his physical massive strength and Fuji brought his devious ring psychology to the team, which earned him the nickname "The Devious One".[6] Fuji used to throw salt in his opponent's eyes, which earned him victories.[1][2] They defeated Sonny King and Chief Jay Strongbow on June 27, 1972 for their first World Tag Team Championship

I loved that salt gimmick. The match I saw had a double DQ. Fuji for bringing in the salt, Strongbow for using it. The fans went nuts over that call.
Also, I don't really remember Fuji with Tanaka. My memories of his tag team matches included Mr. Saito.

Tanaka went on to play a "heavy" in a bunch of movies. I think he was even in a Bond movie if I remember correctly.

Harold Sakata played Oddjob in Goldinger.
Tanaka was in the Chuck Norris film Eye For An Eye playing "The Professor".
Had to edit this. I got my wrestlers mixed up.

So with an assist by HHH, Owens is the new McDoalds champion. Interesting to see where they're going with this.

Well it's the beginning of the long predicted Rollins face turn. But what will be interesting is to see what they do with KO as champion. Personally I like it. I like KO; his in-ring work is solid and I find his mic work to be great. I think he's very entertaining in promos and on commentary; he's got a unique style for a heel.

heck yeah ! This is awesome (clap, clap, clapclapclap) I wonder if Owens' ridiculous / funny comments, especially on commentary, has inspired Jericho to get back into form? Chris Jericho was kind of lame for a long time, he's off and on, always hit or miss, in 2016 so far, but now Chris is starting to be pretty cutting/ witty again like in the old days.
Man, I was SO HOPING when he was drafted to RAW that the the Jeri-Show tagteam would reform! Big Show and Chris were as great as the Goldust-Booker T. tag team from 2002. But the Kevin-Chris team might be as good hopefully.

So I was mostly focused on the Cardinals games during both Raw and Smackdown so I may have missed it. Did WWE actually try to follow up on this hot interview on either show or did they fumble the ball as usual?

I was watching a reaction video to Smackdown! and the narrator mentioned Slater and Rhino reminded him of Goldust and Booker-T and a bunch of newbies kept saying he should have said R-Truth and Goldust (). People were correcting them, but I made a comment about how Goldie and Booker were a much better and entertaining tag team and used the stutter gimmick in the comment. I needed to remind me of how his shtick went I came across this old video:
Literally, I was laughing so hard at this tears came to my eyes.
You know HHH and Flair were genuinely laughing there. And there is great credit to Goldust for carrying that out. A normal person would end up laughing at themselves right there but he was able to keep a straight face everytime.

Yes, they did follow it up but this is all I can find about it:
Maybe even more will come out of it, but from what I have read WWE has no interest in bringing Bryan back as a wrestler.

They don't need to bring Bryan back but I think they need to have Miz bring that same intensity to the ring now. Like he's trying to prove something. Sort of a character makeover.

Sucks. I wanted Ambrose to have a longer reign. He didn't really get to do anything with this run. He only beat the SHIELD and Dolph Ziggler, and there was very little character development, if at all.

Agreed, they didn't do much with him at all. But I love AJ and I am glad he won but usually a heel title run is only so a face can win at the next PPV (unless it's the Intercontinental Title which heels seem to hold for a long time). AJ is a hard worker and I have always enjoyed his matches. I only watched TNA for him and Joe (and Bobby Roode).
