Jericho is just better as a heel. All of his mannerisms, catch phrases and facial expressions just work better that way. I do give him credit for still wrestling though AND being willing to put guys over. Between his wrestling career and his Fozzy gig I'm sure he doesn't need the money; he just loves the business. He should be a manager when he decides to give up his in-ring career.
It was his heel antics that made me a Jerichoholic. I know his stone cold heel personal is one of his most praised heel runs, but I always liked the smartass, humorous crybaby who always mispronounced wrestler's names and boasted about how great he was. And of course, Ralhpus Security .

Schtick like:
"...will never....EVER...be the same...A-GANE!!!!"
just works better in the heel persona. That catchphrase always amuses me.

Also, Jericho has a pretty good podcast. I don't listen all the time but the ones I do listen to are very good.

Oh man was Terry Taylor treated like crap by the WWF in the late 80s. A more than capable performer stuck with the gimmick of a green as grass glorified jobber dressed as a rooster. Always thought it was a ridiculous gimmick so were many others. However, I didn't realize his only significant win was the one over The Brooklyn Brawler in Wrestlemania V.
Everytime I see a Rockers match, I always wonder if anyone had a clue that one of those guys would end up being considered one of the best pro wrestlers of all time. I know I sure didn't. Even after Shawn Michaels turned heel and got his first major push in the early 90s, I never thought he'd reach the heights he did.

A few days late, but R.I.P. to legendary WWF jobber Iron Mike Sharpe aka Canada's Greatest Athlete. May he and his loaded arm brace rest in peace.

I'm on the 1989 Survivor Series. So far the team with the most dead guys on it was the The King's Court (Macho Man, Dino Bravo, and Earthquake with Queen Sherri outside that makes four). In that match a funny part is when Hacksaw is leading the fans in a U-S-A chant while two Canadians, Dino Bravo and Bret Hart are the two in the ring.

Sad to see so many of them gone.... I miss the 80's WWF events. All good stuff and longer build ups with the stories. They would go on for over a year sometimes and now they only go until the next PPV.
I read that Austin Aries debuted in NXT this week. I did not know that, I am hoping he and Joe will end up on the main roster soon.

Exactly, that's another thing I've noticed. Title changes would go several PPVs before happening, face/heel turns rarely occurred, and feuds would last for quite a while. Even mid card feuds lasted a long time. Jake Roberts and Rick Rude had a feud that lasted over a year. Tito Santana and Rick (later The Model) Martel's feud lasted over TWO years.

I think the record for a PPV with the most dead award goes to Wrestlemania 7. There were 14 matches on the card. As of this post, we have lost:
1. Gorilla Monsoon (commentary) 2. Joey Marella (referee) 3. Kerry Von Erich 4. Dino Bravo 5. Davey Boy Smith 6. Paul Bearer 7. Ultimate Warrior 8. Randy Savage 9. Sherri Martel 10. Miss Elizabeth 11. Bryan Adams 12. Big Boss Man 13. Curt Hennig 14. Earthquake 15. Road Warrior Hawk 16. Hercules Hernandez 17. Roddy Piper

Yeah, I think the death rate of former WWF wrestlers was highest with those who were there in the early 90s.

Aries is great! I hope they use him as a heel but his in-ring style works either way. I just think he's better on the mic as a heel.
Aries has been around and knows the industry so it theoretically should be pretty hard to screw him up. But then this is WWE creative we're talking about so I'm sure they'll find a way. After all, he's not Vince's stereotypical steroid monster.

Stampede Wrestling legend Archie "The Mongolian Stomper" Gouldie passed away this afternoon in his sleep at the age of 78. "The Stomper" had been battling Alzheimer's and recently fell, breaking his hip. He underwent hip replacement surgery but never recovered.
Gouldie, who wrestled all over the world, is considered to be the greatest heel in Stampede history and was one of Bret Hart's favorite wrestlers as a kid. He scared Bret as a kid when he cut a promo and threatened to destroy the Hart family house while feuding with Bret's dad Stu Hart. Bret later wrestled Archie and considered him to be one of the best from that era.

I just knew with all the news that AJ Styles would definitely not debut at the Rumble... that he would. Looks like they're even going to let him use the Styles Clash (it was attempted and spoken by the announcers). This Rumble crowd is going to be a hostile one. Reigns stopped the Clash and when he Samoan Dropped him the boos became deafening. A debuting Styles might not have been a wise idea if they plan on a Reigns win. Of course they did put him at #3 so maybe they plan on an early elimination and a short fan attention span.

Once again Roman is one of the last ones in and getting booed. Everytime it looks like he's getting over, the fans show that they aren't buying it. However, doesn't matter as he was eliminated. I predict HHH as the winner.

Another awful Rumble. Hooray! At least AJ Styles got to make his debut and they hinted at a Owens program with him. The crowd certainly loved him.

Yup. I knew they weren't going to give it to Dean. So now Wrestlemania main event will more than likely be HHH vs. Reigns.

Yeah, certainly lacking. I'm glad I no longer pay PPV money for stuff like this. A year worth of the Network is much cheaper than the four main PPVs and I get to see the better, older stuff.

Oh, another observation watching the old stuff I forgot about. Around the time of the first Survivor Series, you could only tag using your hands. A wrestler tagged his partner's boot and the referee didn't allow it.

How pathetic is it that HHH has to actually wrestle? It just goes to show how bad WWE has been at creating top heels. So since that's the case and since Reigns is being booed mercilessly all the time anyway, why not make him a heel?

Just wondering why Joe and Aries have to go thru NXTA and AJ is straight to the main roster. Just curious that's all.
