I was reading the comments in a blog about last night's Smackdown and found this:
Quote :
So far, Del Rio's return is on track to be less interesting than his original run... …quite the accomplishment

Hard to believe, but today it has been ten years since we lost Eddie Guerrero. R.I.P. Latino Heat.

It's interesting how WWE selectively enforces its drug policy. Billy who? I bet if one of the A listers like Reigns or Orton or even Cena tested positive, we'd never even hear about it much less see any punishment.

Fun match tonight on Raw between Owens and Neville.
I think I could watch those two go at it some more. Interesting contrast of styles and nice selling by both wrestlers.

I just read that TNA will be leaving Destination America and start airing Impact on something called Pop TV. Turns out I actually get that channel - unlike DA. So I guess I'll be able to see Impact again starting Jan. 5.

I think Pop TV was formerly known as the TV Guide Network, and they have a much larger coverage than Destination America.

In the comments section of Seth Rollins' injury on the wrestling sites, I read a lot of people saying it's good for him to not have the belt anymore because him being champion was ruining the ratings. Won't they be surprised when Roman does absolutely NOTHING to bring the ratings back up. The WWE's problems go WAY beyond who is and who isn't World Champion.

So true.
I actually had no problems with Rollins being champion. It's the freakin' writing that sucks. And the PG rating...

Wow that's odd I have never heard of PopTV and I do have DA (which will prob never get watched again because Impact was all I watched on it anyway). TV Guide channel disappeared from our line up ages ago.

I'm actually OK with Sheamus as champ; I think it's a better choice than Reigns. Plus I like Sheamus' entrance music because I love bagpipes.

Rusev superkicks Reigns???
WTF??? Did I miss something? Do these two have some kind of backstory that I missed or is this yet another case of WWE "creative" just throwing crap against the wall?

Actually, WWE think it's a better choice. They don't want to put the title on Reigns for now because he keeps getting boos. They want to build him up as a sympathetic underdog and plan on using the same formula they did for Bryan. That's not going to work, but try telling them that.

I really wanted Ambrose. He'd have been an amazing champ. Imagine what the writers could do! Really an open canvas, anything goes! You could come up with actually interesting new angles.
But at least Sheamus is better than Reigns. Reigns would just be dull dull dull superman dull.
Contrary to popular belief, the WWE has NOT forgotten how to build up a babyface, they've just forgotten how to build up a MAIN EVENT babyface. Ever since Reigns started getting pops from the audience, he has been built up in the Cena mold. But no-one likes a goody two-shoes. Wrestling fans hate it.
The WWE already have made two top babyfaces with an edge in Ambrose and maybe in Dolph Ziggler. That cockiness and that Judas Priest -style denim vest are enough edginess to make Ziggler an interesting top guy. He is already superbly popular. Ambrose has that edginess in his wrestling style, and now also in his lunatic fringe gimmick. Both guys would make a good babyface champion.

I agree with you about edgy babyface characters; they've always been my favorites. From Stone Cold to The Rock in WWE, from Rob Van Dam to Taz in ECW, from Ric Flair and Goldberg in WWE; I've always liked the characters who walked the fine line between face and heel. And Cactus Jack/Mankind is another guy and he did it in all 3 major federations. And just look how revered Foley is...

Their problem isn't making faces. Their problem is they have no real heels. The only real heel on the roster is Owens but people love him anyway. They should have had Reigns win the belt and turn heel on Ambrose and push him as a monster. That opens up all types of matches - Lesnar, Ambrose, Rollins as a face when he returns, Cena, etc... Booking Seamus as champion was the worst possible decision. He has zero charisma and no heat. NONE. You can't be a heel without heat. They have managed to reach creative depths not seen since the 1993-94 era.
I often question why I watch their product since they clearly hate their fans and they hate wrestling.

I agree that a Reigns heel turn would be good for business. I actually thought they were going to do that a long time ago when it became obvious the fans weren't buying him as a face. Plus he just looks like a heel.

I thought for sure there would be a heel turn (Roman OR Ambrose), since they were so focused on the "blood brothers" aspect of it all. Even before we knew whether it was going to be Ambrose or Owens in the final, they were talking about it.
And since Triple H needs a "best for business" main event heel, Reigns or Ambrose could have been it.

I think Jim Ross has a point when he says wrestling need to bring back time limits to matches and RULES. Growing up a "closed fist" meant a DQ. Now Roman uses an ILLEGAL MOVE as his finisher. I just don't like the guy and feel he is being crammed down our throats, but I thought the same thing about Honky Tonk Man back in the 80's. WWF brought in HTM as a face and I hated the guy. Then he turned heel & I hated him even more. I remember this promo. I remember the follow up promo said "there was only one vote of confidence against HTM and it was cast by Hulk Hogan". Today I find it hilarious.
Then he turned heel & I hated him even more. I was at Mania III and saw Steamboat win the IC title. It was a truly awesome moment to see with Savage & Steamboat live in person. Then a month or so later Steamboat dropped the title to HTM. Boy was I pissed! But as time went on I came to realize Wayne Ferris was a good worker. Cocky and stubborn but a darn good worker and he knew how to draw heel heat.
With all of that being said the only logical thing to do is turn Roman HEEL, put a strap on him and let him keep it for ages and win by cheating. Yes I will hate him more but eventually he may become a better performer and 10 years down the road I might actually like the guy.

Something else that bothers me is that WWE gives people the STUPIDEST names! I know they do it to own trademarks but why not call Joe Hennig by his name? Michael McGilicutty? And who names a kid Roman or Neville or Bray? NO ONE! The names are stupid. Even Charlotte should be called "Ashley Flair". Bray has a good character so it might be a little weird calling him a Rotunda but Bo Dallas is his biological brother and it is never mentioned that he is a Rotunda. Dolph Ziggler? Who names their kid Dolph? I'm glad Somoa Joe is being allowed to keep him name and from what I understand James Storm is keeping his as well.
