One of the first albums I ever bought. One of the first three CD's. It hasn't aged that well.

As is every single album they've released since!
Hardwired is very good. A grower.
I still didn't even hear it. I knew I probably wasn't going to buy it, but I figured I'd give it a listen one day. But there's always something more interesting.

In fact, I never even heard Re-Load or St.Anger. I'm way behind.
I did hear Load in the 90's and I liked it okay. But it wasn't the kind of music I'm into so I skipped buying. I just figured they went their own way. It's probably still very good, but just not for me maybe.

I have trouble listening to "...And Justice For All". Been like that ever since it came out. Never bought the "black album", the first 3 are good enough for me when there is a need to hear Metallica.

I absolutely love Load and Reload. Weird to have the name Metallica on them because they are so different, but if you can get past that, they're excellent.
St. Anger, on the other, is 99.9% garbage. There are a few cool riffs, but they're brief and do nothing to redeem how fucking awful the rest of the album is.

I picked up the deluxe edition of St Anger about two years ago, because it was on sale at my local record shop, and i simply needed to fill the gap in my collection.
I gave it various spins but the verdict remained the same: very bad.
As for Load and Reload, each has some enjoyable moments.

They should've had a "Load" of on the cover instead of "jizz"

What's the deluxe version of that one? More shit?

Lulu and St. Anger are the two biggest mistakes Metallica ever recorded.

I never heard Lulu either. But I never liked Lou Reed so it's not even slightly tempting on either side of the collaboration.

Shit, I haven't heard a Metallica album in full since Load. Only reason I heard that whole POS, is because a friend of mine made me play it once when he brought it over to my house. Same friend ended up bringing Re-Load over once. Got about half way through it and told him he either takes it out of my CD player, or I turn it into a frisbee and he can go find it. I've heard enough of their newer albums to know I still can't stand them. That Lulu album is probably the least I've hear. Probably about thirty seconds off a couple songs to know it was total garbage.

Metallica is textbook example of how super success can ruin a band musically. People will buy anything & everything, as well as pack the arenas... Regardless
Same thing with AC/DC

I like a song or two here and there from the albums following Justice all the way to Hardwired. Full albums? Nah, too much chaff to separate from the wheat.

AC/DC has some weak albums, but I think the last three they've put out are solid good AC/DC albums. I don't see the comparison between them and Metallisuck.

It is no secret that I dislike AC/DC fronted by Brian Johnson. (IMHDO) "Back In Black" has uncredited Bon Scott participation.
They have rode the mega success of one album for decades, just like Metallica, or course just (IMHDO)

Nah, they have a ton of great tunes after Back in Black. For those About to Rock is just about as good IMO. Razors Edge was also a great album. The rest are good, not great. Definitely have moments of greatness, but have some clunkers too. Brian piss in your cheerios or something? I think he's an awesome singer, and can't imagine anyone else filling in after Bon died.

For Those About to Rock is the companion album to Back in Black. Razors Edge is good too!

I understand where James is coming from here. I like the Brian Johnson era, but I totally agree with this assertion. The rock/metal community for the most part will be a day one buyer based on the name which is embossed on the cover of the album. Even if they hear something they don't like in that of the lead single, most will impulse buy on the name alone. There aren't many bands that have that sort of marketing power, but AC/DC does. When it comes to concerts, AC/DC has always been one of the worst bands, when it comes to playing stuff from their new album. They typically stick to the hits and one is lucky to hear three new songs, when they release something new. AC/DC might be the worst band on the planet when it comes to pulling out some forgotten favorites live. That's why I didn't have a big problem with Axl Rose fronting the band on their last tour. It was so refreshing to see a setlist, which wasn't the same 15 songs over the last 25 years.
