That was a doc like no other. Bringing on a professional counseler parallel to the project just reeked of "trying to hard." His faux-zen didn't help in the least.

As weird as ol' Phil was, I actually think what he did helped in the beginning, but over time it was falling upon deaf ears. Like any sports team who goes after an enhancement coach when they're losing, once that team starts to turn things around and win consistently, it's adios to that person. They just seem to wear out there welcome. The funny thing about Phil, he was just about to move to San Francisco, when Lars gave him the old heave ho... Phil looked devastated, and was trying to convince Lars and James that he felt that there was still more work to do. They weren't have any of it...

Wasn't it Elektra that hired the therapist?

Yeah I'm pretty sure that was the labels idea. That was the way I remember Jason describing it during one of his talking head scenes. I haven't seen the doc in a while.

Whether it was Elektra or Q Prime Management, I guess Tom Morello is to blame for bringing Phil and his ugly sweaters into the mix. By the end of that relationship on the documentary, it had this creepy Eugene Landy ~ Brian Wilson vibe to it, where Phil almost couldn't quite grasp that his services would no longer be needed.

So i finally bought St Anger yesterday. Sealed with a bonus DVD for a mere 6$.
Just needed it in order to complete my collection, and it was way too cheap not to buy. Gave it a fresh spin in the car. Man, there is still absolutely nothing to enjoy in this album.

Nope. It's terrible. I passed it up for 99 cents at the Salvation Army one day. It's awful. Haha.
