Its weird, we both are working on our Stones collection, I am almost finished. I just ordered 'Exile on Main Street: Rarities' which was the second disc of the deluxe version, released on its own, exclusive Target released and 'Its Only Rock n Roll' to replace my beat up vinyl copy. Only one more studio album to go ( Some Girls that I have on vinyl), live album ( Still Life, also own it on vinyl) and comp ( Made in the Shade) you guessed it, own it vinyl.

I bought that Exile Rarities CD at the same time I bought the pre-remaster version of the Exile proper CD. On that same note, I wish there was a disc of the Some Girls extra released on its own, as I bought the pre-remaster version of that too. At some point, I guess I can just buy the MP3s of the bonus stuff from SG and make my own CD.
But I have much farther to go than you on completing my Stones collection. Heh. I'm also a little torn on the 80s records. Though I guess once I have everything else, I can add those, as I know there are some tunes I like on them...just as whole records, I'm not sure how much I need them. We'll see. I have some time.

-Krokus- Metal Rendevous...over the past few months of listening to this on Spotify, it has become probably one of my favorite rn'r records period.
-Krokus- One Vice at A time. This one isn't on Spotify, but I do like "Long Stick Goes Boom" a lot. I have no idea why it took me so long to explore these dudes beyond the few songs I've known from MTV as a kid.
A few month ago, I got a copy of their "definitive collection" after folks here talking about how good they were. Despite never owning a single Krokus album in my life, I knew (or at least recognized) practically every song on there. Funny how that works, ain't it?
Don't know that I'll ever dive too deep into their discography, but that hits collection will garner many listens from me.
Krokus is quickly becoming one of my absolute favorite bands. My problem with hits/best of comps, at least ones that I end up liking a lot, is that after a while I just get that serious itch to hear more. I guess if you get that itch, you'll probably pick up something else I'd assume. To that end, here are some more recent pick-ups:
Krokus- Hardware Def Leppard- Pyromania (rebuy) Def Leppard- On Through the Night (rebuy) Rainbow- Long Live Rock & Roll (I've never owned a copy of this, so it was about time--I've heard the album of course)

Ah. I've been holding off, hoping demand might convince them to do a CD version. I was hoping you were going to tell me they did.
I actually have a record player, one of those Ion deals that'll rip vinyl to MP3s. I haven't tried it yet, though.

If you finally rip some vinyl to MP3, can you let us know the results? I've toyed with getting one of those for a while because I've got a bunch of stuff on vinyl that I know will never see a CD release and I don't have a turntable. I'd love to be able to rip stuff like Primitons, the Georgia Satellites self released vinyl (featuring "The Race Is On") and the first Swimming Pool Qs album among others.

I tried one long ago and was not pleased with the super-bass-heavy results. Seemed that all the complaints on that one were similar, so I returned it. My wife got me a new once recently.
I really hope it works. I have tons of old records from local bands that, like mention, will never see any other release. I'd love to hear those again someday. Same with cassette demos. I have one of those converters, too.

If you're going to rip vinyl it's much better to go to .wav instead of .mp3. Then you can have lossless files to burn a CD with and then you can make lossy .mp3 versions for portability afterward if you so desire. But at least you have a lossless "master" as a backup.

I'm not that fussy because I'm most likely going to play it back on a SanDisc portable. I just want it to sound "decent".

First haul of the new year is starting to trickle in...
Black Trip - Goin' Under Hair of the Dog - Hair of the Dog* Jerry Lee Lewis - 18 Original Sun Greatest Hits Night Flight Orchestra - Internal Affairs Orange Goblin - Back From The Abyss Zodiac - Sonic Child
*I coulda swore I had this album already. I have their other 2, but this one was missing. Maybe I had it on tape? Oh well, now I've got them all.
I also had a copy of Mothership II, but I had to return it. It literally looked like it was run-over by a car. The digipack was all dented and bumpy, the plastic jewel tray was completely shattered and the disc was scratched to hell. Back it went. Amazon gave me a full refund for it, but I'm still bummed.
Good stoner rock for those interested...

Well, I'm in agreement with you there, but in this case it wouldn't have mattered.
It was smashed so bad that the disc was damaged too. A regular jewel case would have been just as demolished. I tried to rip a copy before I sent it back and only got 4 songs in before it starting skipping and locking-up the computer. I really believe it was run over by a mail truck or forklift or something heavy.

Ah well that sucks then. I can deal with smashed jewel cases, as long as the disc is in tact (and switch out the cases). I've never had a disc come damaged like that. Though I recently sold a CD on eBay where the recipient said it came in pieces. It was my first and only time using Amazon's Global Shipping program, and the thing only went to Canada. But I don't plan to use it again, as maybe Amazon's global shipping places just suck?
Tangent, but it annoyed me to no end because any time in the past, if someone has had an issue, I will gladly refund (and this was like $3 we were talking about), because I know it sucks getting stuff damaged, even though this was obviously not my fault. The dude, before even contacting me at all, left me a negative feedback (my first) and opening a dispute with eBay. I cannot fathom why he would not first just contact me. Sure, if I was a jerk about it then, yes, do all that. And as it stood, I couldn't even refund him immediately because Paypal put a hold on the transaction until it was resolved, so the dude had to wait like 3 extra days than he would have to get his refund. Weird people, man.
