Eh, not really. I'm aware that I acted like a dick earlier on, but I can see that most of the members here aren't any better.
For instance, I see more personal attacks and other conflicts than actual discussions. The stereotype of the old, bitter metalhead happens to hold ground here. Just saying.

This is not my experience. Fights do break out, but it's the usual suspects that are involved. Some people don't understand that their online persona might not be that friendly. Also, I think some users should use something like a /sarc tag to denote sarcasm. I think many arguments stem from misunderstandings and not getting someone's sense of humor.
Also, some people take it as a personal affront if I don't agree with their taste in music. This makes no sense as a person's taste in music is 100% subjective and there is no way to quantify the "quality" of music.

Stereotypes get a bad rap. I like being able to label people into neat compartments for easy reference.

That's my German heritage. We're an efficient, precise group.

There are the usual suspects, but I'm not someone who's into these trivial matters much. Having to explain yourself because of someone's uptight response is just tiresome. I'd rather not waste my time.

Watching how you phrase things so it doesn't upset others isn't "tiresome", it's called fitting in with the group dynamic.

I was involved in a conversation with a buddy over the weekend about how DD could possibly be the last legendary guitarist to emerge in rock and metal. I'm trying to think of anyone since him who brought in such a groundbreaking, game-changing style in both rhythm and lead, much like Eddie did in the late 70's. I gotta be drawing a blank here, help me out.

Eh, Zakk Wylde maybe? He's got a unique, identifiable style that some folks were emulating for a while there. Not sure that it was exactly "game-changing", but he fits the guitar hero-type. It's a stretch, but that's about the best I can come up with.

He's the last one I can think of that's made any impact as a guitar hero.

Dimebag Darrell is the last "legendary" guitarist because of the hype. Almost no one heard of him until he died. He was far from the best, but the blind fanboys will say otherwise. So be it.

What happened to the "solo's are mediocre at best" comment ? You changed that pretty fast.
He was far from unknown before he died.

Yeah having custom signature guitars made by a major builder sold worldwide is never being heard of until death ?

4 million+ albums sales tells me that's a farcical statement. And that's a figure from 2002, 2 years before he died.

Something tells me that you took my remark so personally that you had to pull out an ancient post from a tabloid site to "prove me wrong". You sure got me there!

I'm supporting my statement that you're mentally unstable from earlier. But don't take it personally. It's just a figure of speech.

This can't be a serious post. He is "legendary" because he was a goddamn legend already when he died! Fact.
