| This situation is rough because the facts coming out fly totally in the face of the vibe you got off of the person in question. The first reaction you want to have is, "Hell, that can't be true. Someone's just trying to get something out of him." And then, when it's not he said/she said; but he said/she, she, she, she, she, she, she... said... Yeah, it becomes pretty hard to ignore.
Hard to say this, but wow, what a dirtbag.

I know what you mean. After all, this is Cliff Huxtable we're talking about. Even though he was just a character, you always assumed that was what Bill Cosby was like (especially given that the show was based to some extent on his family), so it's very hard to wrap your head around the notion of him doing this, in particular the number of women coming forward.

| I'm a fan so I'm weirded out by all this controversy. I grew up listening to Cosby's 1960s stand-up albums (Revenge, 200 MPH, Why Is There Air?, Wonderfulness, etc.) and I can quote his "Bill Cosby: Himself" concert film chapter and verse.
It's kind of bizarre to think that while publicly he seemed like America's Favorite Dad, he had this Jekyll-and-Hyde thing going on, but stranger things have happened.
According to the papers he was first publicly accused seven or eight years ago by a woman whom he eventually paid to go away, so he was never formally charged. That doesn't exactly sound like the actions of a man who's secure in his innocence.
I gotta say though, the recent social media fiasco sparked by his Twitter was kind of hilarious in an awful way. Just as this Cosby-as-rapist story was starting to gain traction, some genius on his staff decided "This is the perfect time to have a Make Your Own Cosby Meme contest!", and of course his official Twitter ended up being inundated by rape joke pics like the one mc666 posted above. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| He was saying a lot of controversial stuff about African-American culture that it seemed needed said. Damn shame of all this is that people are going to totally toss anything he said as crap as a result of this.
The Jekyll/Hyde thing is definitely apt here.

| I've been a big fan of his for a long time. This is a shocker to hear. I'm not sure what to think. I don't want to believe it but there seems to be just too much in the way of facts to say otherwise. | |

| That banana is also the musical equivalent of those paintings in thrillers where the eyes followed the protagonist. No matter what song I have playing, the little bastard is dancing in time. | |

| Bad year for big name comedians... Robin Williams killed himself and now Cosby appears to be a serial rapist! To make it worse, both of them had a wholesome family image. It might be easier to believe that guys like Sam Kinison or Andrew Dice Clay would be accused of this stuff, but not Mr. Family entertainment. | |

| This will also be a Law & Order "ripped from the headlines" episode soon, I bet. Curious to see how they play that, and who plays Cosby. | |

i doubt he will ever face, let alone be prosecuted, but his image and ability to earn money is pretty much done. _________________

i agree. We now convict people in the media before the facts are ever known. _________________

| Normally, I'm on that page. This situation just gets ugly because so many allegations are coming out.
Someone makes a bad call once with only he said/she said or equivalent as evidence against them - ok, that can be left up for debate, trial, etc.
While it's POSSIBLE that a bunch of people who didn't know each other would come out of the woodwork to wreck someone's reputation, at that point it's a bit like someone having eight bodies discovered in their basement. Yeah, there could be a story that explains it away, but you're really pushing plausibility there.

Yeah, there could be a story that explains it away, but you're really pushing plausibility there. As much as I want to believe Bill Cosby is innocent, it's not looking good. One or two - it doesn't mean they're lying, but it would be believable someone is just wanting to get fame. But when it's this many, I have a hard time buying that he is not guilty. It's sad, and as much as I hope the allegations are false, when there's this many, it's unfortunately likely true that he is guilty of at least some of what he is being accused of.
