For some reason I can't get that link to open. Can someone tell me if Liv Jagrell of Sister Sin is on the list? I'm guessing no.
Nope.
Figured. How can this woman not be in the list?
Is that a serious question?
It was at the time.

I was going to comment that I couldn't come up with a list of 10 female vocalists that I like. However, I looked at your list and realized that I liked most of them! Ha! Great list. Glad to see Jody Turner of Rock Goddess ranked that high. They usually get overlooked, but I prefer them much more than Girlschool. I am from Cincinnati, so it was cool to see Chastain at number one. The delete bins and vinyl stores there are littered with Chastain records.
Thanks for the compliments! I found the first four Chastain albums on vinyl at a local store for very cheap prices. It's even better that they were in excellent condition. I even found another copy of The 7th of Never.
It's a shame that most people would only think of your typical Disney/flower metal vocalist for female singers. Outside of that, it also doesn't help that most people don't think past Pat Benatar, Lita Ford, Joan Jett, or Doro Pesch.
I hope my list encouraged someone out there to give more female-fronted metal a chance, because there's so much more to it than the aforementioned big names.

Cool list. Not familiar with a lot of them, but it's rad to see Acid and Jade get a mention.
Toho, thanks for the link, never heard of them before.

Thanks for checking it out!
You should definitely look into Chastain, Hellion, Sentinel Beast, Santa (the Spanish heavy metal band), and Terra Rosa for exceptional vocalists. If you pour a couple of days into checking out most of the unfamiliar picks, you'd probably learn some new favorites.

Is this list of yours by favorite CD / tapes ? Or is it just by the singer's voice ? Sounds like I have to buy a " Leather " cd - lol - I did buy Bitch ' Be my Slave " CD - it's pretty good !

Tried to see the link but it wasn't working for me. Must be getting blocked by the firewall.
Did Kim McAulliffe (Girlschool) or Ann Boleyn (Hellion) make the list?

Yep. Both are on the list. Ann Boleyn is #2.

Listed by vocalist, of course. The samples are for demonstrating their styles.

Sorry that you couldn't access the page. Try a proxy or VPN, if possible. The site is safe to use.
I'll post half of the list here:
Spoiler:
50. Betsy Bitch (Bitch) Most people look at Bitch as nothing more than a decent metal band with humorous lyrics about bondage, but I genuinely enjoy listening to Betsy Bitch's voice on the first two albums. She's certainly nowhere near influential, but that doesn't make her a bad vocalist. Scorchers like "Leatherbound" are timeless American heavy metal classics, nonetheless.
49. Furuya Yukie (ex-Velle Witch) Here's the first obscure reference for this list. Velle Witch was a great all-female band with doom metal elements. Too bad none of their releases made it past the demo stage.
48. Bettina France (ex-Meanstreak) Mostly known as the band whose members are married to most of Dream Theater's members, Meanstreak was a solid thrash metal band that put out the catchy Roadkill album. Perhaps a typical Megadeth-esque band, but there's a great, youthful energy to be found here.
47. Wendy O. Williams (ex-Plasmatics) No list of essential female metal vocalists should be published without a single utter of the late Wendy O. Williams! Her vocals were nasally and nasty -- just how I like it! The Plasmatics was a killer punk band that encompassed many genuine heavy metal elements into their sound. One of my favorite releases is Coup d'Etat, which has a very Judas Priest vibe going on.
46. Nicole Lee (Znöwhite) Another essential female-fronted metal band. Great thrash metal stuff going on. Nicole Lee's got the goods on the severely underrated Act of God. Reminds me a lot of Leather Leone of Chastain.
45. Debbie Gunn (Sentinel Beast, ex-Znöwhite, ex-Ice Age) Debbie Gunn kicks ass! Sentinel Beast's Depths of Death is a true speed metal classic. More of that great punk tone in her favor. The female version of James Hetfield. I also recommend checking out Sweden's Ice Age.
44. Sandra Thomas (ex-Lady Sabre) It's almost like Savatage switched Jon Oliva with a female vocalist. Sandra Thomas has a nicely soaring range to her voice that I enjoy hearing often. You can hear her reach some high notes in "Iron Overload". Enchanted is worth the hunt.
43. Lorraine Gill (Taist of Iron) Great band and vocalist. Her operatic voice complements the epic vibes of Taist of Iron's music.
42. Terry O'Leary (ex-Jaded Lady, ex-Leather Angel) She was previously in the band Leather Angel, but I prefer Jaded Lady a bit more. Anyway, Terry O' Leary has an amazing voice that combines Persian Risk's Carl Sentance and Rock Goddess' Jody Turner in one neat package. "On the Run" is raw, crunchy heavy metal fun from the sleazy city of Los Angeles.
41. Sabina Classen (Holy Moses) There's no reason to leave out Sabina Classen, one of the most well-known female thrash metal vocalists. I haven't heard a lot of Holy Moses' stuff after Finished with the Dogs, but that's still a really good album. She's absolutely bestial and holds nothing back.
40. Lynn Renaud (ex-Messiah Force) A good Canadian speed metal band that I apparently missed out on. Nice voice. Thanks to Ravenwreck for showing me these guys.
39. Dawn Crosby (ex-Détente) Such a good f*cking vocalist. What a shame that it didn't get any better than Recognize No Authority, because it just kicks so much ass. Dawn Crosby's Paul Di'Anno-esque vocals are raspy as hell. I first heard "Holy War" on a compilation album that Metal Blade Records put out in the mid-1980s.
38. Sweet Marie Black (ex-Jade) Jade was a short-lived Canadian hard rock/heavy metal band that didn't get that much praise in their time. Although the band was plagued by internal conflicts and weak label support, Sweet Marie Black's voice managed to persevere in the AOR-ish If You're Man Enough.
37. Danielle Draconis (ex-Original Sin) Another scorcher is among us! Imagine a female-fronted version of Restless and Wild-era Accept, and you pretty much get Original Sin's debut in a nutshell.
36. Lori "The Scream Queen" Wilde (ex-Black Knight) Amazing vocals! The nickname lives up to what I just heard. Another good pick from Ravenwreck.
35. Maryann Scandiffio (Blacklace) Unlaced is a solid heavy metal platter, and Maryann Scandiffio's one hell of a vocalist to boot. She's similar to Betsy Bitch's style, but I'd consider her a much better singer. "Runner in the Night" is one of my favorite metal songs ever written in 1984.
34. Kelly Johnson (ex-Girlschool) Girlschool's vocals have mostly been pretty average to me, but I always liked hearing Kelly Johnson's voice a lot more than the other three members from the band's classic personnel. Maybe it's the punk-ish vibe that I get from her, but I just really dig her style. It's a shame that Girlschool only put out two or three killer albums.
33. Andrea Schwarz (ex-Rosy Vista) Let's just say that Rosy Vista was the German version of Vixen, but with a bit of a harder sound than the latter band.
32. Susie Shubert (ex-Warbride) Here's a band that I just came across. They absolutely kick ass, and Susie Shubert's range often hits the high register. Great Dokken and Judas Priest worship.
31. Tomoko "Killer" Yamamoto (ex-Volfeed) Japan has so many great obscure metal bands. Volfeed might've come too late to the party, but the Majesty EP doesn't let up one bit. The vocals are very similar to the style of Terra Rosa's Kazue Akao.
30. Boudeeka (ex-Ariah) There isn't much information on this band, but this is a pretty solid hard rock song with bits of metal to it. Decent voice.
29. Elena Pagonis (ex-Pantara) This band was on New Renaissance Records' Ladykillers compilation album. Not to be confused with Pantera.
28. Laura Bravo (ex-Nuclear Death) Here's a grindcore/death metal band to break the mold of heavy metal bands. Pure f*cking anger!
27. Kate French (Vainglory, ex-Chastain) I'm not the biggest fan of Chastain with Kate French, but I must admit that she does have a very good voice.
26. Pam Scott (Ordained Fate, ex-Cryptic Axe) Very good vocalist from a somewhat obscure Christian power metal band. I love the early Cryptic Axe demos.
25. Sylvie Lacroix (ex-D.C. Lacroix) Not a very unique band, but Crack of Doom is fun and catchy hard rock/heavy metal.

Nice to see the late Dawn Crosby mentioned. Though I'm not familiar with the material mentioned. I know her from Fear Of God:
Her voice was just so haunting during the melodic parts downright scary during the heavy parts. She was like the female King Diamond as far as vocal variety. I've never heard any female vocalist in metal as talented and banshee-like as she was.
