I didn't ask you.

Meh, don't really care to be quite honest, sounds like a silly pissing contest to me.

Nonsense, Shadows is a damn good vocalist(you don't know what a bad singer is until you've heard Scott Staap from Creed), Rev is a damn good double bass drummer and Gates is a superb guitarist.
M. Shadows is whiny and can't even pull off a half-decent scream to save his behind. His "tone" is the equivalent to a horse taking a shit in front of a microphone.
The American Creed may suck, but they at least don't try to rip off their influences.
Well I disagree, I think he can pull of a pretty good scream and doesn't sound "whiny" at all.
How the hell are Sevenfold "ripping off" their influences? I don't see that at all.

Listen to what you want. Don't worry about what other people say about what kind of music you like. James B. pretty much hit the nail on the head.

Of course A7X are ripoff artists:
This:
Is a rip off of this:
That being said, I don't mind them, but they are completely derivative.

Eh, they're both on the same page, but I don't think you can get any more ridiculous than Avenged Sevenfold. They make Trivium sound like gods.
Don't see anything wrong with either band, Sevenfold's guitar player is pretty talented.
Talent is irrelevant when you lack musical integrity. Sorry, not impressed when you're forging mediocrity through blatant plagiarism.
Well I for one think they have plenty of "musical integrity" and I fail to see how they are "forging mediocrity" and I do not see any "blatant plagiarism" whatsoever.
If this isn't blatant plagiarism, I don't know what is.
If I write a novel and lift 75% of it from other authors, that's f*cking plagiarism.

Eyesore- Yeah sorry but I don't see how it's "f*cking plagiarism" in the least, and writing music is NOTHING like writing a novel, so that's a silly comparison.

Writing music is quite a bit like writing a novel, actually.
Anyway, it's not a silly comparison at all. When you copy something someone has already done, it's plagiarism. Simple. That song is Metallica's "Sad But True," slightly altered.

They have clearly stolen elements of those songs that I posted. It's not even debatable. Come on man.
As I said in another thread on A7X, I really don't care that they shamelessly rip off other bands. I hope their music gets younger people into other Metal bands. I view them as an entry level band for the Hot Topic crowd.

Yes it is "debatable", it's not "stolen" just cause you say so, and I certainly would not call them "entry level".

Did you even listen to those clips? How in the world can you say that they did not rip off Metallica?????
Let me repeat myself - I own their discography. I find much of it enjoyable, if not revolutionary.

Witchfinder and Eyesore know what's up.
I understand that you like them, Vexer6, but it's blatantly obvious that Avenged Sevenfold lifts a LOT of ideas from Metallica and a couple others.

I do agree (as an Avenged Sevenfold fan) that This Means War is very similar to Sad But True. Heck, their song "Planets" is literally based off the Holst track. Just be glad they didnt cover Megadeth's "When".

If Synyster Gates can faithfully cover any song off Megadeth's first four albums, then I'll consider his merits.
Even Kevin Jonas has a better chance of covering one of their songs!

I used to be one of those people who thought the vocals of LA Metal bands were cheese but really these guys actually had talent in that respect. Some of them were absolutely fantastic singers who could reach octaves and sing with a raw gruff that most modern 'rock' bands can't really do to save their life.

I think you need to look up the word "homage." An homage is a band like Airbourne playing music that is clearly influenced by AC/DCs music but not actually AC/DCs music.
