What non-metal genres out there do you think most metalheads would actually get into?
There are lots I can really think of, like psychedelic rock, garage rock, prog rock, southern rock, stoner rock, post-rock, grindcore, neofolk, dark ambient, classical, jazz fusion, free jazz, grunge, drone, anarcho punk, horror punk, crust punk, hardcore punk, D-beat, IDM, psytrance, metallic hardcore, martial industrial, power electronics, harsh noise, death industrial, EBM, power noise, industrial rock, gothic rock, deathrock, darkwave, neoclassical darkwave, underground/old school rap, psychobilly, outlaw/alternative country, noise rock, gabber, speedcore, breakcore, powerviolence, electro industrial, aggrotech, and shoegaze.

Yep, it's a raw and dissonant subgenre of hardcore punk and similar to grindcore.

Ugh... I think the name sounds better than the music it describes.

About 70% of those genres listed in the first post sound like they were made up this morning.

Most of those aren't actual genres. Just different styles of genres like punk, goth, electronic, etc.

Unless I'm mistaken, despite a mile long genre list, you missed off blues!
Which is awesome!!

I think ROCK might appeal to some metal fans.

Metal can lead in a couple of different directions. I mean, since prog and metal are becoming conjoined twins anymore, that's definitely a big +1 for metal fans.
Listening to Therion was my gateway into classical as well, so those are the big two.
I think of rock as a given since most of us started with rock and then moved on to the hard stuff.

Good Lord. This is why I just divide music into two genres: "stuff I like" and "stuff I don't."

While many of those would have a lot of metalheads into them, I'm not so sure that you can say that any one of them would be something that would appeal to "most" metalheads.

Choice (A) Stuff James digs
Choice (B) Stuff James doesn't dig
Life is simple this way and saves time not having to type words I don't know how to spell or know what they mean.

I guess not, but the point is that they all have metalheads that like them.
Other genres could include digital hardcore, thrashcore, terrorcore, dark/punk cabaret, japanoise, street punk, synthpop, trip hop, and goregrind.
Other genres like hard rock, alternative rock, indie rock, blues, and certain forms of EDM may have its fair share of bands that metalheads would be into.
