Voted Thrash but Hair/Sleaze is a close second

Traditional (pre MTV age) & bands of that style and black/some death.

A little thrash but not much.

Prog-power. And NWOTHM.

Of the four, I chose thrash, but I go in waves. Right now I'm not even listening to much metal; I honestly opt for quieter music at the moment, and the latest Opeth album has me all tied up with 70's prog.

Thrash/speed from the choices. I listen to a lot of traditional too;mainly anything but death/black.

I like all of those genres, but I listen to them in the following doses these days:

1. Hair/sleaze
---big gap---
2. Prog/Power
3. Thrash/Speed
4. Death/Black

This is actually a tough poll as i mainly listen to traditional metal such as maiden, priest, accept etc but i love my prog and regularly listen to dream theater. Been listening to a lot of rush lately and really loving fates warnings latest which i only recently picked up so been getting back into them too.

Plus i love megadeth and a lot of classic thrash and I'm loving arch enemy at the moment too and do dip into a fair bit of death metal.

Exactly the same.

Voted Hair/Sleaze from the options above.

Not sure how to vote. I probably listen to prog the most, but almost never listen to power metal. In fact, I don't really like it that much. Not sure why they're often grouped together.

my list might be:
1) prog
2) thrash
3) death (but not black metal)
4) 70s metal

but that's imprecise. Some of the stuff I like, I'm just not sure how to categorize, like Mastodon. Or I've listened to a ton of Killer be Killed this year, but that seems to cross some categories.

I'd say 50% of the time I'm listening to traditional metal. The other 50% would likely look a lot like the way the results of this poll are going.

For me traditional if that category existed

Traditional, Power (but only a handful of prog metal bands), hair/sleaze, thrash, and death, in that order.

Do I really even need to say? Everyone that's been on here for a while knows what I would pick.

power/prog followed very closely by hair/sleeze.

Yes, I voted Hair only because Traditional category was not here.

Traditional. I went with hair. The 70's and 80's hard rock/metal is what I listen to most. A lot of the 60's too.

All of it, but voted for Thrash. Traditional heavy metal and 70's hard rock/heavy metal would probably top the list.

I would say a tie between traditional and stoner/doom, if those were options

I would have to go with Traditional with some Hair/ Glam sprinkled in.

Speed, power, with just enough sleaze and 70's metal. There's not a single word for it, but that's it. You get the picture.

If not, just isten to Savatage's "Devastation". That's it. That's what I like in music. That's what I want to hear.

A simple power metal song (no prog), not sleaze, but with just a little rasp and some 70's (think Eddie Van Halen) inspired lead guitar work. And if a song is a little faster than this, it's good too. Can't go much slower though - points are lost immediately.
