Broken China is definitely a grower and, at that, one that only really suits certain moods. Granted, Wright could have sung the phone book and I would have found at least a handful of times to listen to it, so I say that VERY conditionally.

I agree completely. I still have a slight hope that they're just keeping Waters' involvement secret, but I'm resigned to the fact that in all likelihood that's not going to happen.
If it had been as you describe then there would have been no question around me getting this. But given what's been revealed about the album so far I'm going to want to hear quite a bit of it and read a number of reviews first.
The slightly disappointing thing is that even though The Division Bell may not have been intended to be the last Floyd album, High Hopes was the perfect note to end on. So there's a danger of the new album ending up being a bit of a damp squib after that.

No question at all there. As much as I love Waters, I have to admit that DB was a phenomenal album - easily in the top 5 for Floyd in my mind (better than Dark Side, I'd even wager).
The only real critique I have about this release is that they just came out with the "Anniversary" edition of DB and it has NO unreleased music in it. The big perk is the hi-def remaster on Blu-ray coupled with a whole mess of vinyl - the album on vinyl, vinyl singles (of edits? WTF?), and so on. It smacks of a really crass cash grab rather than the respectful sendoff for Rick that it's being sort of billed as.

The release date is quickly approaching! I'm really excited about this album.
For the record, there is only 1 track featuring vocals, the rest of the album is instrumental.
Only a 30 second clip posted so far...but 30 seconds of Floyd is superior to an hour of most any other band.

Only one track has vocals? That's a shame. Not that I won't enjoy it, but I'm sure a lot of people are going to take issue with it.

There are a lot of instrumentals in Floyd's discography and Richard Wright and David Gilmour's solo discographies. True fans of the band and of those musicians should be able to appreciate it.
Since the very first announcement of this release they have described it as "ambient and primarily instrumental", I guess people that have issue with it should read press releases.

The more I think about it, a new instrumental Floyd record sounds like a brilliant idea!

Knowing that this is definitely a primarily instrumental album gives me a lot of hope for it. It also allows me to put to bed any misgivings about a new Floyd album without Waters since this is legitimately jam material from the Division Bell sessions. It wouldn't have been right to tweak them too much.
At this point, I'm hoping it's an amazing record because it's going to serve as Wright's musical swan-song.

I'm interested in getting this, although in all honesty, I'll probably wait awhile till after it's been out and all the people that rushed to buy it right away are disappointed by the lack of vocals and sell it cheap on-line. That's when I'll swoop in.

A new post on the PF facebook indicates FOUR songs with Gilmour vocals. Probably not quite as instrumental as previously indicated...

1 song with lead vocals, 3 songs with backing vocals. Quite possibly "wordless" backing vocals as a prior interview indicated only 1 song on the album has lyrics.

3 songs with backing vocals gives me the (fleeting) hope that there are some Wright lead vocals on the album. Given that what we're going to be getting is likely to be the remaining Wright material that wasn't used for TDB - at least if I'm reading the teaser information right - this isn't outside of the realm of possibility and would explain the teased backing vocals.

Ahhh so Roger finally speaks out...
Roger Waters has issued an angry statement about his lack of involvement in the new Pink Floyd album. Waters, who left the band in 1985, issued the message to fans via Facebook after receiving inquiries as to his role in the band's new album 'Endless River'. Explaining that he has nothing to do with the album and that he is no longer a member of the band, Waters signed off the message by telling people to "get a grip." The full message from Waters' Facebook is as follows: "Some people have been asking Laurie, my wife, about a new album I have coming out in November. Errhh? I don’t have an album coming out, they are probably confused. David Gilmour and Nick Mason have an album coming out. It’s called 'Endless River'. David and Nick constitute the group Pink Floyd. I on the other hand, am not part of Pink Floyd. I left Pink Floyd in 1985, that’s 29 years ago. I had nothing to do with either of the Pink Floyd studio albums, 'Momentary Lapse Of Reason' and 'The Division Bell', nor the Pink Floyd tours of 1987 and 1994, and I have nothing to do with Endless River. Phew! This is not rocket science people, get a grip." Speaking last year, drummer Nick Mason revealed that he would be interested in a full band reunion with Waters, but was not certain it will ever materialise. 'The Endless River' will include music recorded with multi-instrumentalist Richard Wright, who died in 2008 aged 65.

I thought Roger's response was actually pretty funny - in a very dry, British way.
With Wright gone, if there's any further collaborative work between the surviving three (which I doubt, but I can dream), I'd prefer it if they called it something else. Hell, they're prog. Just call it Gilmour-Mason-Waters and be done with it. I'm sure most of the fighting would be about the order the names should go in.
Gilmour: I carried the band when you were writing about quadripalegic ham radios or some such %$$#, so my name goes first.
Waters: Oh yeah, well, while you were busy losing your hair and eating casseroles, I wrote our four best selling albums. I go first!
Mason: I'm so writing a book about this...

It was announced this morning that David Gilmour will be releasing a new solo album in 2015 and plans to tour behind it.

Cool. I really enjoyed his last one. I like all 3 of his solo albums actually.

That's great news. To have a new PF album, and a new Gilmour solo album in such a short time span is quite a surprise!

I haven't gotten the album yet, many reviews on the audiophile board I post on have been raves. They have said it's closer to Ummagumma/Atom Heart Mother in construction than the later albums. As mentioned earlier, only one track has lead vocals, the rest is instrumental with some wordless backing vocals on some tracks.
I have to work tonight, but I'm going out in search of it tomorrow. I want to get the blu-ray version, the bonus material is reportedly excellent.

What I have been having problems with is finding samples on YouTube. There are so many videos posted of "new music" and none of them turn out to be Pink Floyd. But since a I have really heard none of it, it is hard to tell what is real and what isn't because a lot of the fake ones sound like Floyd too.

Samples in this case are worthless, the album is actually just 4 extended pieces, each of those 4 pieces are made up of many short tracks that segue into each other. Hearing only 30 seconds or a minute really provides no insight.
