Has anyone seen Motley Crue or Kiss in the last couple of years. Both artist are coming to my city this summer. The tickets are expensive..For me and my wife in the nose bleed section would be $150.00 and if we want a good seat then it moves up to $200 to $300..I am really wondering if Crue or Kiss puts on a show worth that kind of money...(Can Vince even sing anymore)..there are lots of way cheaper shows coming that I might should consider instead.. Any thoughts? Thanks!! (Meant to mention that unbelievably as many shows as I have seen in my life I have never seen either one of these bands live...)

I too really would like to see the Kiss/Def Leppard tour as I love both bands, but I think I'll end up passing: Paul Stanley's voice sounds terrible on recent live footage. The songs are downtuned to the point where he at times seems to just "talk" the lyrics.
The most glaring example:
Joe Elliot also struggles in the range most the Def Leppard hits are sung in.
As for the Crüe, Vince is not great live, but he is really no different now than, say, when they were doing the Carnival of Sins tour. I'm hoping to catch the farewell tour. If not, I've heard there are plans to do another North American leg after Europe and Asia, so probably in 2015.

I wouldn't pay that much to see **anybody**, but that's just me.

Interesting seeing as Mötley mentioned the ticket prices as generous on the Final Tour.
Out of curiosity what was Maiden tickets prizes during recent tours in the States ?

If you have ever wanted to see Kiss with makeup then you might wanna check them out. As for me, the only Kiss I have ever seen is WITHOUT make-up and I wanna keep it that way. I'm more of a fan of their 80's stuff and glad that I got to see them without make-up and with Bruce & Eric

From an entertainment perspective, both bands are fun to see live. Both bands know the value in putting on a stunning visual show.
From a sound perspective, Vince has never been all that great in a live setting, but I've heard that he's been better in the last few years than he's been in some time. I haven't seen them live probably since the early 2000's.
When I saw KISS on the Sonic Boom tour in 2009 or 2010, Paul sounded kinda bad. He was starting to show his age.
If you have the funds and are looking for a fun night out of entertainment with the wife, go for it. If you're expecting precision musicianship and mind-blowing vocal performances, seek elsewhere. And FYI, lawn seating blows donkey in ANY venue. Don't let people tell you otherwise. They are liars and not your friend. Pay for a seat.

Motley Crue. I saw them only once, in 2004. It was fun as hell, to me. I don't remember having an issue with the vocals/sound...but I was really there for the show. I can listen to the CDs whenever I want, so I wanted to *see* them. And it was well worth it.
KISS. I only saw them once, too (after many failed attempts over the past 15 years), in 2010. And it was fun as hell, too. The vocals all sounded fine to me (well, I mean, Gene's voice has always sucked, that's just how it is). And they put on a good show...which, again, was what I went to see.
Both bands are well worth seeing, in my opinion.

Ya don't have to worry about Vince's voice. He has the audience sing most of the songs now days.

Shouldn't they get some of the obscene ticket price then?
I looked at tickets for Sabbath at Hyde Park and they start at £187.59!!!
I saw both KISS and Def Leppard in the '80s and they weren't very good then!
Screw all of these old dudes! Why on earth would i want to pay that when I could go and see the awesome Age of Taurus/Landskap play for free.

Interesting Crue story: I saw them on the Dr. Feelgood tour in Knoxville, TN. I was about 20-25 feet away from the soundboard. In between one of the sets I noticed a hot blonde sitting there. So I yelled "HEY HEATHER!" and immediately Heather Locklear turned around and smiled. I motioned that I wanted an autograph and she shook her head yes. Then before I could get one step close to her security said NO. So I read her lips and she said "I love you too! I'm sorry!". I was surprised no one else noticed her before I did.

Ignore my previous post: I just broke down and bought a decent seat for KISS/Def Leppard in Minneapolis, where I'll be for a Korean language program over the summer. I'm putting all criticism over vocals aside: it's just great that these guys are still performing. It should be great!
