I've played since I was in middle school and all I can say is I hate these kids.Haha! Seriously though,he's very good. It always amazes me to see young kids with such talent.

I've seen this kid before in a few other YouTube videos. Quite the talent for such a young age. I was still mastering the art of Legos at that age.

I can only imagine this was the product of, "Well, you asked us for an upgrade to your drum kit, so for every summer vacation for the next five years, we're locking you in a room with it. Don't worry, we'll let you shower once every three days and we'll bring you food."

Otherwise, discipline and "seven years old" are mutually excusive concepts.  Smile

Truth told, there's something really weirdly inspirational about this. The kid's really good and I've known people who saw stuff like this and were just kind of blown down a negative thought path on it - "They're so good and I'll never be that good, so I should just stop."

Funny thing is, pay attention here - his technique is great, but he's still clearly grasping groove and locking in with it. He's got the mechanics, but not the feel. This isn't to bash him at ALL, because even THAT is damned impressive at his age. Point being, it's wild to realize that someone can look amazing, but it's all this learning process and we're all human. Kind of makes it seem more reproduceable than untouchable that way. In that way, this kid's a huge inspiration.

All I have to say is that when this kid's footwork begins to match his hands.  He'll be a monster on the kit.  Totally impressive for somebody of that age.   Wish I had a kit like that when I was 8 and beginning to play.  I had a Frankenstein kit  Laughing very hard

Like I said, his folks probably got that as a "your birthdays for the next five years" present and locked him in the room with it. I can't see any other way for a kid that age to get that good on the kit.  Laughing

If you begin teaching a child music theory at a very young age, then write out the rudiments on paper and give em a practice pad.  Something like this isn't that uncommon.   My friend did this with one of his offspring and the kid could play just about any instrument adeptly by the time he began jr high school.

Cool I was looking forward to your opinion. So he's a bit behind on the floor? That's also the feeling I got after watching his playthrough of Painkiller. Regardless, like you said it's still remarkable.

What I love his how happy he seems playing. He's got this confident smile on his face and a bit of dance too. Most kids I know who play drums at that age are pretty mechanical about it. Same with the prodigy shredders. They don't have this kind of presence.

Mine means no more or less than any other one.

I play the drums but am far from an expert on it.
That kid probably explains stuff better than I could

Dunno about that. If I wanted to know how an A/C works, I'd prefer to ask someone who knows an A/C to some degree rather than someone who knows nothing. Of course, everyone's opinion matters here, but I'm also interested in his technical ability. And thus what you said is appreciated. Smile

I tried teaching my son guitar at an early age but he wasn't interested lol.. Kids def have it easier IMO. It's easier for them to learn and want to learn at an early age. Their body and brain haven't quite adapted to the norm, so when it comes to instruments I believe, molding a child into any instrument is easier than trying to teach an adult.

This kid with practice will be something very special! Drums were the first instrument I learned at around 13 (quickly moved to the guitar but still play when I can). This kid at 7 is a monster compared to me at 33 HAHAHA!!
