Looks like a new Dio tribute is coming out and even Metallica are on it. Mostly new covers too:

I was totally psyched for this. Until I saw the track listing...
'Neon Knights' - ANTHRAX* 'The Last In Line' - TENACIOUS D* 'The Mob Rules' - ADRENALINE MOB 'Rainbow In The Dark' - Corey Taylor, Roy Mayorga, Satchel, Christian Martucci, Jason Christopher* 'Straight Through The Heart' - HALESTORM* 'Starstruck' - MOTÖRHEAD with Biff Byford* 'The Temple Of The King' - SCORPIONS* 'Egypt (The Chains Are On)' - DORO 'Holy Diver' - KILLSWITCH ENGAGE 'Catch The Rainbow' - Glenn Hughes, Simon Wright, Craig Goldy, Rudy Sarzo, Scott Warren* 'I' - Oni Logan, Jimmy Bain, Rowan Robertson, Brian Tichy* 'Man On The Silver Mountain' - Rob Halford, Vinny Appice, Doug Aldrich, Jeff Pilson, Scott Warren* Ronnie Rising Medley (Featuring 'A Light In The Black', 'Tarot Woman', 'Stargazer', 'Kill The King') - METALLICA* 'This Is Your Life' - DIO
TENACIOUS D? F**k, I hate those guys. Jack Black can eat a bag of dicks. I'm not real keen on Killswitch Engage either, but I guess that's what the skip button is for.
This will be out April 1st, for anyone that didn't bother clicking on the link.

The D are awesome.
That Doro song was already on the Holy Dio tribute album. Now that one REALLY had some cool covers, like Angel Dust, Blind Guardian and Solitude Aeturnus. I'm a little bit surprised that one hasn't been re-released yet.

Don't worry MG, I'm in your corner on D. Terrible stuff.
The Holy Dio tribute was top notch--this looks like a lot of stuff we've already heard by a bunch of bands that don't quite thrill me anymore. But I'd be willing to take a listen.

Not surprising about Tenacious D considering Jack Black is a huge Dio fan

Dio was in their movie, and the D were on his video for "Push".

Some good strong talent on it but this doesn't interest me at all. Tribute albums just don't do it for me.

It was interesting until i saw killshit engage there and Corey Taylor...they desecrate the name Dio, if they really had Dio as inspiration they wouldn't suck as hard as they do...

Well I got this earlier this week and this album is mostly crap. The Metallica medley is good and the Scorpions cover of Temple of the King is exceptional and definitely the highlight here.
I bought the physical album from Amazon and I got the Auto-Rip version (digital download) for free as well. What's cool about that is the digital download version has a bonus track and it's Jasta covering Sabbath's Buried Alive and it's excellent! I was shocked at how good it is, but Jasta really captures the viciousness of this tune and amps up the bludgeoning riffs.
The Glenn Hughes cover of Catch The Rainbow is hot garbage. I love this song and he ruins it with his crooning nonsene and he awful interpretation of the song. It's a horrorshow. Voice of Rock my ass.
I think the album is worth a purchase to support a worthy cause, but the tracks themselves are generally without merit. Maybe buy the mp3 version so you can get the Jasta track.

Wow! That Jasta track is awesome! I had no idea he could sing like that. Impressive.
As for the album overall, I'll buy it used someday. Albums like this are typically disappointing. Too many different styles trying to do justice to one style. It rarely works. And even in those instances where it does work, it more often than plays very disjointed, which makes it difficult to enjoy in full sittings.
From the samples I've heard, this one sounds pretty good. The Tenacious D cover is surprisingly good. And dissing Corey Taylor's "tuff-gai vaqualls" won't change the fact that the dude has a great voice and it's a decent cover.

"Decent" is being too kind. I listened to his voice, and it just didn't mesh well with the song. He's spent all these years singing/screaming in a crappy, strained voice, only to put on a very underwhelming performance. There are so many other vocalists suited better for Dio's music, and yet they went along with this pseudo-rapper.
Sorry, but I just dislike the style of these bands, and would never consider Slipknot or any other related band metal. Far, far from it.
I'm proud of my knowledge of REAL metal, and this release barely has any metal bands or musicians on it. What an insult; this only serves as nothing more than throwing around like a Frisbee. Some people will gladly accept this trash -- why? Don't they realize that this is an elaborate cash cow attempt? What "value" is there in this? It's bad enough that people are buying Frequency Unknown...
Raise your standards for music. Is it any wonder why most metal nowadays is so painfully crap?
Once you start using the term "REAL METAL" you lose any credibility with me. There is no such thing as REAL Metal or TRUE Metal.
You don't have to like Slipknot or Stone Sour, but Pseudo-rapper? Corey has a great singing voice and I agree he's not the best fit for that song, but he does well IMO.
These bands and musicians are paying their respects to a legend. How good the songs sound is just a plus in my eyes.
