So I'm looking to rip all my old demo tapes before they deteriorate too greatly. My question is, what is the best kind of tape deck I can buy now that isn't going to break the bank? Anyone know? I don't want to buy something shitty and have it eat all my tapes. Haha.

Hit up used electronic shops, Craigslist, etc. You can find professional grade decks for real cheap these days. Take a tape to test the deck, clean the heads and you should be good to go.
