| Now is a good time to ask I suppose...what's the whole history behind this board, anyway? And who are the original founders beside Scott? All I know is this trailed from another metal board, but that's about it. | |

I'll give you the history as I remember it (as I have been around for almost 20 years on these boards in some some fashion) The Christian Metal Realm started when some older boards - Brutal Christian Music Metal Board (BCMMB - going back into the days of Boardhost circa 2001), Screams of Abel and others folded and some successor boards (the Black horse Inn for example) went downhill quickly due to poor, ego-driven operators who ran them into the ground. The zines that had their own boards also went out of existence (Thunderline, The Whipping Post, The Phantom Tollbooth (more recently), etc) as did the communities on IRC (Dalnet) as the web changed. There were a lot of smaller boards after BCCMB closed and the CMR grew to replace most of them. Both Ult and Kmorg were part of the CMR but started HoM to have a broader focus than the CMR (plus a lot less arguments). _________________

| Since I created this board, here's my story. I can't remember what I discovered first, No Life 'Til Metal or the old Tourniquet discussion board. But what came of it was that I got to know Scott (ultmetal), Arttie, Rex, Shawn Of Fire and a bunch of others there. After a while the TQT board closed, and Arttie created the Christian Metal Realm, and asked Scott and myself if we wanted to help him run it. One of the regular members there was a fan of Ultimatum, and he asked if he could create a fan forum dedicated to the band. Many of the regulars at the CMR was also regulars on the Ultimatum board. Soon the creator of the Ultimatum board suddenly stopped liking Ultimatum and offered Scott to take over the board. Scott then asked if I wanted to help him run it with him. Said and done. This was on a platform called ezboard. That platform went belly up after a while, so I created this place to take over for the Ultimatum board. I envisioned it to bbe more of a general metal board instead of just a forum for 1 band. So I built Heart of Metal. Scott help me run it, and I think it was his idea to make it the official forum for our No Life 'Til Metal and Metal Metropolis websites.
There have been several other people and members that have been essential in building and maintaining this forum. I won't start naming names, because I might forget someone. But they all know who they are, from people helping with the design, to moderators and administrators, and long standing members here. You are all a part of making this the best metal forum on the net. And that is something I am damn proud of!! _________________

| I was a member of some of the boards mentioned, but due to drama, strife, and flat out childish behavior. This guy bailed. I'll cop to taking part in some of that stuff I mentioned and my choice was to leave a problem instead of adding to it.
I popped in here quite awhile before signing up and it is one of he most civil, well adjusted sites around. I realize that I've ruffled a few feathers around here and have taken the advice of admin/mods and decided to play nicely. My gratefulness to members here is twofold. The knowledge gleaned regarding music and bands is paramount. Yet, the laughter and fellowship seems to be more meaningful as the years go by.

Laterz Sounds a lot like my story. My favorite things about this board are a) the diversity of music/bands discussed, b) members take ribbing and kidding in the way it's intended which leads to...c) very little drama. And no, The King is not (d). _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Never knew the whole history of the board - cool! I found this place after looking up info on a something and up it popped on google. Then someone was selling stuff I was interested in, so that was how I came to sign up. Eventually started posting and here we are 6 plus years later. Didn't realize the board was so new at that point.
This board proves something I've always felt was true - "metal" fans generally tend to be the most opened minded when it comes to other genres/styles of music. There aren't too many other boards, metal or otherwise, where someone can freely admit to loving Roxette and still be accepted. Drama kept low, maturity mostly high, opinions still strong make for a fun forum to be part of. Also have to mention the endless list of stuff I've discovered thanks to the denizens on here.

I generally find them to be mostly closed minded, even to styles within their own genre. I will agree that the members here are more accepting than most. _________________

| It'll be 7 years for me this February. I guess I came here following a link from Ult's site. I've been a member of only a handful of other boards in that time, but this is the only one I've stuck with. This place has cost me a fortune in music purchases. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | Most other boards have a bunch of clique minded a-holes that attack anyone that doesn't like what they do. This board is much more accepting of musical differences and opinions. Although we've had some heated discussions in the past regarding politics and other sensitive topics. | |

Although we've had some heated discussions in the past regarding politics and other sensitive topics. I'm totally with you on this. If someone doesn't like what I listen to, that's their loss I respect everyone's taste in music. It's their ears and it's their emotions, not mine, therefore I'm happy they enjoy it. The ppl here rly are great, even if some disagree, they seem to not do the usual "that band sucks" which is really refreshing.
